"People are born draped in splendid robes, crawling with fleas."
"Only when we cast off our robes and lay down those filthy insects can we set foot upon the road leading toward the gods."
In the courtyard, Li Qing basked in the sunlight, reclining leisurely in a deck chair and enjoying the beauty of the early morning. His days were as carefree as those of a retired old man.
Divine magic was indeed an interesting path.
But in Li Qing's eyes, the giant god blueprint they had constructed was even more fascinating.
Because this enormous life-form had no microbial symbiosis from the beginning, the various organs they constructed might replace the functions of microbial symbiosis. It might become a truly independent life-form capable of surviving on its own. Perhaps this was the true path to stepping into godhood.
Li Qing was also considering a question:
Was their divine magic suitable for him to use?
"If I use it proportionally, then the divine magic I cast would have to create a primordial giant deity. Then I would 'believe in' that deity, become Their believer, and borrow strength from Them!"
"Only then could I summon one of Their two-meter-long fingernails."
"But it isn't very practical. Not only does it require casting materials and casting energy, but the defensive power of this divine magic can't even withstand an ordinary bullet."
A flicker passed through Li Qing's eyes, and he slowly shook his head.
But the technology of the first generation was always crude.
It was just like the first automobile or train in human history. The people riding in carriages laughed at how pitifully slow they were, but what happened afterward?
All one could say was that the future looked promising.
This spell still had enormous potential.
If he wanted, this biological construction technology could even be applied to Earth as it was now, creating a revival of mythology.
For example.
If he really built an Ultraman that crossed the universe, then all the foolish humans on Earth would only need to "believe in" this giant god, obtain his DNA structure, gain divine magic from him, and awaken a portion of his bodily tissues.
Construct Ultraman's head blade? Skin? Indicator light? Bring them out to fight the enemy, and perhaps they would be far more powerful than ordinary weapons.
It was just that this should still lie in the distant future.
At that moment.
Susannie walked out of the small villa next door. Seeing Li Qing sunbathing in the neighboring courtyard with sunglasses on, she smiled. "Hi, Li. Enjoying the sun?"
"I'm carrying out photosynthesis."
Li Qing smiled.
"Then I won't disturb you."
Susannie clearly had no time to bother with Li Qing.
Recently, she had been secretly raising her daughter at home, teaching her to read and write, and busily running around doing all sorts of things.
Lately, she had even stopped going to the gym. She no longer had the standing to criticize someone else for not going to the gym.
Susannie now regarded her daughter as a priceless treasure.
She had also begun to feel that fitness had its limits!
The greater treasure was right before her eyes. How could she neglect the root for the branch?
After the morning passed.
After finishing lunch, Li Qing discovered that he suddenly seemed to have nothing left to do.
For the past month or two, he had been busy renovating the living room and the other two rooms, transforming the interior of Three Rooms and One Hall into a sealed laboratory.
Of course.
This hadn't cost much.
The main expense had been the alloy steel plates, which had been welded and sealed inside.
A huge sheet of tempered glass had also been installed in the living room's ceiling, ensuring sufficient sunlight, while the specially made glass prevented anyone outside from seeing in.
"Forget it. I'll study divine magic." Li Qing suddenly became interested.
He began studying according to the techniques within. Before long—
"World Tree Descent."
Crack!
A clump of vine-like hair the size of a fingernail grew out, strand by strand.
It was just a little small.
The era once again welcomed a blazing technological transformation.
They modified a higher-version giant god construction blueprint and added various structures so that, in the future, they could summon parts of a god's body to emerge and fight their enemies.
They called it the "God-Making Project."
The giant god they constructed was called the God of Elves.
On this day, the new emperor fully ascended the throne.
Herodotus became the King of All Gods.
Clang!
Clang-clang!
The bell tower before the church echoed.
The enormous golden bell hanging in the tower rang out with melodious, majestic chimes. They fell from the luxurious giant tree that rose straight into the heavens, passed through the flourishing branches spanning countless clouds, descended upon the earth, and reverberated across the entire land, passing through rivers, forests, wastelands, caves, and tribes.
"What is that?"
"The bell of the gods?"
The elves beneath the tree raised their heads in their tribes and gazed at the sky.
The various races across the land also emerged from their caves. Fish-men swam through the rivers, while half-human spiders looked up from the trees, staring at the sky in astonishment.
"What happened?"
Ilis, who had been hiding inside a spider cave and had recently been studying the gods' legacy, curiously walked out. She sensed that something unimaginable was happening in the sky—a grand ceremony of the gods unknown to the mortal beings below.
"Gods, all the gods!"
She gazed up at the sky, looking past the dense forest toward the vast World Tree towering into the heavens in the distance. Her ambition surged as she muttered:
"One day, I will ascend there too! I will become one of the gods!"
"From the firmament, I will look down upon all the scenery on earth! I will create my own race, walk toward eternity, step into one future age after another, and live forever!"
The brains of all life on earth originally belonged to the elves.
Their intelligence and emotions were incomplete. They possessed little ambition, and their creativity was weak.
But after Ilis picked up the gods' brain cells and integrated them into her consciousness, some kind of mutation appeared. She gained the creativity and ambition possessed only by the gods.
After the clear bell had rung dozens of times across the entire land.
The gods began to pray.
"This is the will of the gods!"
"The gods had us build a giant god, granting us enlightenment once more in secret! They are hinting that this is the origin of totemic divine magic!"
"We built the giant god, and thus gained faith. We now have something to rely on. By believing in the giant god, we can obtain Their divine magic!"
Early in the morning.
The enormous sheet of tempered glass in the living room's ceiling shone brightly beneath the sunlight, filling the room with light.
A ray of brilliant sunlight passed through the enormous Crystal Wall and wantonly spilled into the living room, falling upon the giant tree within. It landed on the eaves of the church, decorated with green and red leaves. Dappled leaves interwove with breathtaking light and shadow, while the church built from trees looked like a fairy-tale structure in the forest.
"Ah! You bless and guide all the sons and daughters beneath heaven, enlightening us to the path of truth!"
"You allow us to communicate with and care for one another, joining together to form the vast divine body upon the one sacred throne!"
"Spread Your gospel throughout the world! Lead all peoples back to the Lord!"
"In Your name, I beseech You: imitate the body of the gods and cast this spell!"
For this ascension.
Li Qing still descended a Divine Oracle as usual.
But this was not the enthronement of the first emperor, so he could not be bothered to descend personally beyond the Crystal Wall. Instead, through the descent of the holy dragon, he placed the crown upon the new human emperor's head and bestowed upon him the scepter.
"People of the earth, Herodotus."
A wisp of the god's will crossed the world and descended.
It carried an entirely different aura from that lazy mascot.
The Consciousness Waves of the god's descent were mysterious and vast, as though they had returned to the origin of life. It was an absolutely overwhelming aura from a higher level of existence.
"Grass must wither, and flowers must fade."
"Only truth is eternal in this world."
He gently stroked the forehead of the king before him, and a solemn voice rang out:
"May you lead the people of the earth to possess faith."
"May you lead all living beings to enjoy freedom, embrace courage, and set foot upon the road toward us."
The red-robed cardinal recorded everything, forming an eternal mural.
In the Age of Elves, Herodotus ascended the throne, became the King of All Gods, and ruled as the sovereign of the entire civilized world.
After the enthronement ceremony was completed.
Li Qing did not leave completely. Instead, he excitedly planned to walk around and look at this world.
This time, he did not use the body of the holy dragon, because that would have attracted too much attention. He had discovered a new toy—a cute little spider that had somehow become half his familiar.
