The Identity of the Corpse

The corridor was still quiet.

But being watched by a group of Vicious Ghosts was definitely not a pleasant experience.

They did not attack Jiang Qiao.

But he could clearly feel an ominous aura surging and accumulating in the corridor, like clouds thickening before a storm, growing denser and larger until it reached some critical point.

"Finally, there's a change. They're warning me."

Jiang Qiao glanced at the walls and ceiling on both sides. The cyan color shrouding the surroundings was growing increasingly intense.

At first, it had merely looked like paint.

But now, it had gradually turned into liquid, even glittering faintly as though it might flow down at any moment.

Beneath that cyan color, the outlines of lifeless human faces emerged. They wriggled across the walls like living things, and each face bore some resemblance to the Vicious Ghosts in the corridor.

"These human faces came from that void. They should be some kind of curse." Jiang Qiao's expression shifted slightly.

He saw something seemingly coiling and twisting constantly in the darkness of the void behind the walls, forming human faces that pressed toward this side.

At this sight,

Jiang Qiao lowered the wooden stick in his hand and smiled faintly.

Then,

he stopped taking further action, picked up the corpse he had smashed to the ground, turned around, activated Stealth, and left the corridor without looking back, returning to the crossroads.

Although they were separated by a straight-line distance, the two sides could still see each other.

But Jiang Qiao clearly felt that

when he left the corridor ahead and stepped across its boundary with the crossroads, the ominous aura suddenly vanished without a trace.

The Vicious Ghosts did not follow him, nor did they continue their unknown attack.

Little by little, they turned their heads back.
