The First Lantern realized it.
"You intend to... no, Batman Dragon intends to... give me the right to choose?"
"If you asked my opinion, I would never agree to such an arbitrary decision. But the fact is, this is exactly what Batman Dragon did," William Hand said. He added, "It's exactly the sort of thing only he would do—controlling the course of everything as much as possible, yet giving you the right to choose at the crucial moment... And he can always predict what choices we'll make."
William Hand continued, "Yes, I could also choose to disobey his orders and act according to my own methods. But he predicted that I wouldn't do that."
"He predicted that I would obey his orders and hand Hal over to you. So... did he also predict that you would save the multiverse according to his wishes?"
The First Lantern said nothing.
He took a deep breath.
"Wait a minute. What did the First Lantern do to me before?"
Parallax Hal—or rather, the Parallax Hal who had already become a Black Lantern corpse—wasn't entirely sure. He wasn't the Hal from the normal timeline, but had come directly down from the Zero Hour. Although he had learned his own history through the Over-Time Stream, he had never personally experienced it, so he needed a moment to process it.
Then he realized his fate.
"Anything would be better than letting Perpetua rule the entire DC Multiverse." That was what he said in the end. Then he flew before the First Lantern and spoke in a tone that sounded almost martyr-like. "Go ahead!"
