Background

Jia Youcai originally entered the Douluo World through a mysterious helmet and selected the development route “Crush Demon King Tang San.” The choice fundamentally altered the setting’s history, including the absence of Spirit Hall, before Jia arrived in the world and witnessed Tang Hao and Yu Xiaogang pursuing Qian Xunji 1 2.

At his Spirit Awakening, Jia learned that he was a player rather than an ordinary Soul Master. His system allowed him to draw, equip, and switch Martial Souls, treating awakening as a card draw rather than a fixed lifelong assignment 4. He later met Qian Renxue, who taught him the basic principles of cultivation; Jia immediately sought to build familiarity with her, calling her “Xuexue” and proposing that they cultivate together 6.

After completing the “First Encounter” Main Quest, Jia used the system’s option to skip eight years forward, changing from a six-year-old into a fourteen-year-old and reaching Level 35 12. His early growth relied heavily on paid top-ups, quest rewards, and system purchases rather than conventional cultivation, which he is incapable of performing on his own 10 28.

Personality

Jia is confident, provocative, and often openly lazy. He treats serious matches casually, such as deciding a battle assignment with Qian Renxue through rock-paper-scissors, and he is willing to boast about his own achievements 14 194. His confidence can become overconfidence; Dai Weisi successfully ambushed him when he was already planning his celebration 124.

Despite this, Jia is an adaptable tactician. He studies enemy abilities, exploits unfavorable matchups, and prefers control, positioning, and timing over direct confrontation when necessary 71 353 420. He is particularly cautious around unknown motives, distrusting Xiao Yingsha’s account even while Yan Lingzhuo sympathizes with him 229 235.

Jia is fiercely protective toward those close to him. He shields Qian Renxue, Yan Lingzhuo, and Shui Bing'er in dangerous situations, and he repeatedly places himself between companions and stronger enemies 10 194 508. His protection can coexist with ruthless behavior: he kills hostile attackers, destroys corpses on Qian Renxue’s orders, and once publicly hung an unconscious opponent upside down as a prank 347.

Abilities & Skills

System Interface and Martial Soul Switching

Jia’s defining advantage is his player system, which gives him access to multiple Martial Souls and purchasable upgrades.

  • Can draw and equip different Martial Souls rather than being restricted to one awakening result 4.
  • Initially could use only one equipped Martial Soul at a time; changing it carried a one-day real-world cooldown 10.
  • Unlocked the Twin Martial Souls function through the “Dance with the Destined Female Protagonist” gift pack 20.
  • Gains Soul Power through Main Quests, side quests, and purchases rather than ordinary cultivation 28.
  • Can spend currency to obtain Spirit Rings, Soul Bones, Martial Souls, and Dou Hun upgrades 10 51 153.

Blue Silver Grass

Blue Silver Grass is Jia’s most reliable battlefield-control Martial Soul and one of his preferred choices in one-on-one combat.

  • Uses Entanglement, Blue Silver Cage, and underground vines to restrain opponents and interrupt formations 73 292 345.
  • Forms the Blue Silver Overlord Spear to finish immobilized enemies 293 345.
  • Redirected Bai Xiaoke’s Poison Devouring Chain through creative vine control 292.
  • Its large control area is especially effective against speed-type opponents, as demonstrated in the Hell Slaughter Arena 345.
  • Jia considers its four known skills control-oriented and capable of overwhelming equal-level opponents 46.

Six-Winged Fallen Angel

The Six-Winged Fallen Angel is Jia’s principal dark-attribute Martial Soul.

  • Acquired through the Destined Female Protagonist gift pack alongside its fusion and external Soul Bone functions 20.
  • Darkness Domain disorients and incapacitates multiple enemies 234.
  • Sun-Eating Wings creates a dark domain that obscures vision, disrupts targeting, and increases Jia’s evasiveness 235 463.
  • Fallen Sky Soul Severing Slash condenses dark power into a demonic sword for close-range strikes 235.
  • Fallen Angel True Body manifests a massive armored form with two pairs of black wings and annihilation flames in its eyes 429.
  • Can briefly turn Jia into pure shadow to pass through narrow physical gaps; the technique consumes considerable Soul Power 492.

Phoenix Martial Soul

Jia’s Phoenix Martial Soul specializes in firepower, aerial mobility, and purification.

  • Phoenix Wing Soaring grants temporary flight 23.
  • Phoenix Fire Line becomes a powerful flame pillar when enhanced by his other skills 23.
  • Purification True Flame burns through Xiao Yingsha’s binding tentacles 239.
  • Uses fireballs, flame storms, and direct close-quarters strikes reinforced by Phoenix flames 239 470.
  • Combined with Yan Lingzhuo’s Phoenix power to perform Blazing Sun Sky Breaker, defeating Xiao Yingsha 241.

Beast-Type Martial Souls

Jia has demonstrated several beast-type Martial Souls that amplify his physical combat.

  • Soft Bone Rabbit

    • Teleportation enables abrupt repositioning and surprise attacks 136 334.
    • Charm can immobilize or freeze an opponent’s actions 136.
    • Soft Bone Lock binds targets through flexibility and physical control 136.
    • Eight-Section Blast Kill and Aerial Seven Star Fist form his signature aerial striking combinations 136 334.
    • Invincible Golden Body protected him from Bing Tianmeng’s punch 338.
  • Evil Eye White Tiger

    • White Tiger Vajra Transformation greatly increases Jia’s defense and physical power 173.
    • White Tiger Demon God Transformation further enhances his combat form 173.
    • Can use White Tiger Meteor Shower, White Tiger Comet Strike, and White Tiger Annihilation Kill 338.
  • Godzilla

    • Emperor Armor covers Jia in Dark Gold scales, greatly boosts defense, and reflects attacks 159.
    • Super High-Temperature Spiral Ray is a high-heat piercing beam capable of breaking through layered attacks 160.
    • Reached a six-Dou Hun setup with a Hundred Thousand Year torso bone, though its full strength requires Martial Soul Avatar activation 153.
    • Atomic Breath is powerful enough to exhaust Jia completely and collapse his Martial Soul Avatar afterward 378.

Seven Kill Sword

Jia obtained the Seven Kill Sword from the Martial Soul Card Pool after spending 648 yuan on a guaranteed pull 51.

  • Uses Sword Riding Flight for aerial movement, though he initially struggled to balance and control the sword 51.
  • Can create Seven Kill Heaven-Defying Formation, splitting the sword into seven Sword Qi phantoms 183.
  • Uses Myriad Swords Returning to Origin, though Chen Xin criticized his execution and forced him into strict training 260.
  • Can form temporary demonic swords from Soul Power; these weapons are expendable rather than permanent equipment 139.

Domains and Special Physique

  • Eternal Calamity Body activates under extreme injury, granting enhanced strength, speed, endurance, defense, and rapid healing 241 474.
  • Titan Forbidden Zone broke Tang San’s Blue Silver Emperor restraints and endured a Clear Sky Hammer strike, but rapidly drained Jia’s Soul Power 473 474.
  • Original Sin Gaze can incapacitate or interrogate targets through a mental effect 139 312.
  • Shadow Embrace temporarily immobilized Su Longyuan 139.
  • Nether Possession is an evasive, shadow-based Sixth Soul Skill; it is less effective against wide-area, indiscriminate attacks 258 452.

Equipment and Items

  • Seven Kill Sword — Drawn from the card pool; used for sword flight and sword formations 51 183.
  • Ten Thousand Year left-arm Soul Bone — Held in reserve during the exchange-student period 28.
  • Six-Winged Angel external Soul Bone — Listed among the rewards of the Destined Female Protagonist gift pack 20.
  • Godzilla Hundred Thousand Year torso bone — Part of Jia’s fully upgraded Godzilla setup 153.
  • Cloud Breath Fan — A support-focused Martial Soul whose first three skills aid allies; Jia considers it ineffective in direct combat 48.

Relationships

  • Qian Renxue — His rescuer, closest confidante, and frequent battle partner. Jia states that she is the one person he does not trust lightly, and the pair repeatedly fight together in high-risk situations 6 101 353.
  • Yan Lingzhuo — Teammate and emotionally attached companion. Jia promises to protect her, while they can combine their Phoenix powers in battle; Yan Lingzhuo later conceals manipulative intentions beneath her dependence on him 43 197 241 532.
  • Lan Fuzi — Young Hall Master of Beast Spirit Hall. Their first duel ends in a stalemate, and after Jia spends six months at Beast Spirit Hall, their relationship remains short of becoming lovers 172 194.
  • Shui Bing'er — Ally, sparring partner, and later traveling companion. Jia assists her family’s plan involving the Snow Empress and the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well 132 459 460.
  • Luo Xingyan — Independent sword cultivator recruited as an ally. Jia respects his self-earned strength and relies on his support in team battles 100 101 334.
  • Chen Xin — Strict swordsmanship instructor. Chen Xin criticizes Jia’s use of Myriad Swords Returning to Origin and personally trains him 260.
  • Tang San — Primary enemy. Jia ultimately declares his intention to destroy the Clear Sky Sect and kill Tang San; their later tournament battle becomes a brutal contest of endurance and power 460 469 475.
  • Bing Liyue — A powerful but unreliable associate. She helps Yan Lingzhuo in the past, yet later deceives Jia into testing an Artificial Soul Ring and attempts to stop his escape from the Ice Palace 102 492.

Story Role

Blazing Academy and the Spirit Master Competition

Jia joins Blazing Academy’s tournament team alongside Huo Wu, Huo Wushuang, Yan Lingzhuo, and others, with Qian Renxue designated as a substitute for the finals if necessary 28. He gains notoriety through his battles against Huo Wu, Godwind Academy, and other elite teams, often using Blue Silver Grass to dismantle enemy coordination 14 71 73.

Although he recognizes that Blazing Academy’s overall strength lags behind top teams, he attempts to unite the group around the Seven-in-One Fusion Skill. His failure to do so forces him to confront the team’s weak bonds and uneven desire for victory 153 154. He later returns to the academy as a known member of its championship team 194.

Beast Spirit Hall and the Demonic Body

Jia duels Lan Fuzi after encountering her disguised identity as Beast Spirit Hall’s Young Hall Master, ending in mutual acknowledgment rather than victory 172. He later stays at Beast Spirit Hall for six months before departing to continue pursuing strength and Qian Renxue’s safety 194.

After being deceived by Xiao Yingsha, Jia fights the demonic body directly. He is initially overwhelmed, but activates the Eternal Calamity Body and joins Yan Lingzhuo in using Blazing Sun Sky Breaker to defeat it 235 239 241.

Hell Slaughter Arena and the City of Slaughter

At Level 70, Jia enters the Hell Slaughter Arena with Qian Renxue 343. He defeats a Level 72 speed-type Soul Master using Blue Silver Grass, then carefully avoids registering for battles against Titled Douluos while accumulating points in two-on-two matches with Qian Renxue 345 353.

During the Hell Road’s opening, Jia expends all his Soul Power with Atomic Breath and leaves Qian Renxue to continue while he recovers 378.

Conflict with Tang San

Jia is forced by Huo Jin to represent Blazing Academy against Shrek Academy, where he faces Tang San directly 468 469. Tang San’s chained use of the Blue Silver Emperor, Clear Sky Hammer, Demon Domain Spider Emperor, and Divine Slaughter’s Domain pushes Jia to his limits 469 470.

Jia survives through Emperor Armor, Titan Forbidden Zone, and the awakening of his Eternal Calamity Body. He then overwhelms Tang San with close-quarters attacks, fireballs, and concentrated energy strikes 473 474 475.

Anti–Clear Sky Sect Ambition

Jia later reveals his ultimate objective: destroy the Clear Sky Sect and kill Tang San 460. He seeks only a commitment from Liu Ningshuang that she will not oppose him when that conflict arrives 460.

When Lan Yuanba and You Li propose action against the Clear Sky Sect, Jia argues that their side lacks divine power and warns that the fractured forces of the God King of Destruction cannot safely be trusted 573 574.

Trivia

  • He used a Main Quest to skip eight years of his life because he did not want to remain a child 12.
  • Huo Jin threatens to expose Jia’s past academy pranks, including burning a dean of studies’ wig, spiking cafeteria soup with Fiery Peppers, and turning Blazing Brew into explosive wine 468.
