Brando and Nemesis slowly walked through the Crystal Forest. The frozen branches crumbled into dancing snow beneath their boots. They looked up at the strange forest. The snow-white world seemed to have become an icy palace, while darkness seeped out from between the trees, swallowing all sound and leaving behind nothing but deathly silence.
"Something feels strange." Brando stared at the withered forest as the white mist from his breath quickly dispersed into the air.
"I can't sense any trace of life. This is a dead forest. Was it frozen to death?" Nemesis kept one hand on her sword and watched their surroundings warily, as always.
"This is the legendary Mist Tree, a fantasy forest where the Crystal Stag dwells. How could it have frozen to death?" Brando raised both hands and breathed into his palms, then rubbed them together. "The mission isn't that simple. We'd better be careful."
Nemesis's face turned cold. With a clang, she drew her sword an inch—but Brando turned around and pressed down on her hand. "Don't rush to show hostility. In a place like this, you might provoke an attack from the Dark Magic—"
But the female knight gently brushed his hand aside and slowly drew her sword. "Don't worry. I can sense the flow of Dark Magic."
Brando watched her draw the longsword.

Nemesis remained expressionless. "Everyone has some special abilities. To me, magic is tangible. It spreads throughout this world, bound by invisible forces."
