Act Eighty-Eight: Redemption III

The hall had become an asura hell drenched in glaring crimson blood. Soldiers clad in red-and-white battle robes slowly stepped over the corpses toppled and piled atop one another, crossing the rivulets of blood pooling beneath them. Their cold iron boots marched in unison across the sticky carpet of blood as they closed in around the corner where Brando stood.

The Half-Elf princess was still trying to wrench her wrist free from Brando's iron-clamp-like grip. She struggled once, but to no avail, and soon calmed down. In a cold voice, she asked, "Viscount Cadell, what exactly are you trying to do?"

Under Haruze's somewhat panicked gaze, Brando placed the Sword of Earth's obsidian-black blade against Griffine's neck. Only after seeing the two approaching knights stop did he answer, "Kill our way out, of course."

"Kill our way out?" Princess Griffine looked suspiciously at the soldiers. In her mind, they and Viscount Cadell were birds of a feather.

Brando did not bother explaining further. Using his sword to silence Her Highness's knights and the lady-in-waiting beside her, he said, "If you don't want anything to happen to your Crown Princess, do as I say. Come with me. We'll retreat toward the stairs and go up to the second floor."

Princess Griffine did not know what "Viscount Cadell" intended, so she gave a soft snort.

"Your Highness, if Bedis still has a chance to live, that's what you want too, isn't it? So I hope you'll cooperate with me. I believe you're smart and calm enough to judge the advantages and disadvantages of the situation. Letting all of us die here would bring no benefit to anyone except your enemies—"

"Teacher..."
