Pranche had no idea that he might change the outcome of a war.
If he had known, he probably would have felt incredibly honored.
The battle in Slovafen had been underway for less than fifteen minutes when Viero's many lordly knights were the first to realize something was wrong. In fact, it would have been strange if they had not noticed--when the knight named Pranche recklessly led his attendants out of the linden grove and charged an entire battalion of Skeleton Wizards--though he himself thought they were Liches--the entire battle situation in Slovafen was destined to slide in an unexpected direction. Pranche's actions were like a signal, telling the young knights, Hurry up and seize your share of the glory. Although no one had blown a horn, it was as if one had suddenly sounded. All the knights lying in ambush in that area cried out and launched an attack right behind Pranche.
In an instant, this action spread across the entire left wing of Viero's Army. Before their commanders had time to react, they discovered that one side of the army's front had completely broken away. Everyone was left dumbfounded. To keep troops from other regions from snatching the glory, they had more or less hinted to their subordinates that, with their tacit approval, they could take the initiative and attack without waiting for the appointed moment.
But the problem was that this seemed far too early. After only a moment of shock, Viero's supreme commander began cursing furiously. "Who!" he roared. "Whose men are those?" Everyone around him fell silent in fear, because Pranche had chosen an excellent moment--so excellent that even the Blood Staff's army had not truly entered Viero's encirclement.
The sudden attack stunned the Undead as well.
