Medisa had yet to appear when a silver streak shot out of the Gate of Light and struck the War Tablet suspended in midair. With a crisp clang, it immediately veered aside and plunged into the ground. Only then did everyone see that the silver streak was a long spear shaped like a silver shuttle, embedded at an angle in the collapsed stone wall. The War Tablet, meanwhile, flew in the opposite direction, rolling through the sand until it came to rest at Brando's feet.
Brando chanted, "In the name of knowledge and wisdom, activate!"
The center of the tablet spun and caved inward. A beam of white light shot out from within and flowed into the patterns carved across the tablet. The entire tablet began to shine, then floated back into the air and stopped directly in front of Brando. "Get lost!" But at that very moment, Bai let out an angry roar. A strip of pitch-black light swept across and slammed into the tablet, sending it flying like a cannonball. It crashed heavily into the ground, bounced high into the air, and seemed to skip across the earth toward the distant forest.
Yet the immense twilight power within the Book of Mavikart activated the War Tablet's own defensive system in an instant. As the tablet spun through the air, countless beams of pure white light shot from its patterns. They pierced through layer upon layer of black light, one beam punching through Bai's waist, another piercing her chest. Bai let out a scream and plummeted toward the ground, black flames erupting all over her body as though they would burn her to ash in an instant.
The remaining beams scattered into the sky, across the earth, and toward the forest. Wherever they passed, the scene resembled a honeycomb.
