After a full nine cycles.
Nine streams of Lightness Skill Qi had formed, flowing through many of the tiny meridians in his feet.
Ji Shu only felt his body grow lighter and stronger, much more robust than before.
He lay back down on the large boulder, lightly closed his eyes, and drew in the Qi Mechanism to replenish the blood and qi he had depleted while practicing.
It had to be said.
This Qi Mechanism was no less effective than Great Medicine; in some respects, it was even better. At the very least, Great Medicine had to be chewed, while here, he could grow stronger just by lying down and sleeping.
"Places with Qi Mechanism are just too rare."
On majestic, perilous Mount Hua, there had only been that single Old Sophora Tree left behind from ancient times that possessed Qi Mechanism.
And on beautiful, magnificent Mount Song, there was only this unknown ancient tree as thick as a child's arm. Though the tree looked quite extraordinary, it seemed rotten within. Who knew how much longer it could live?
Ji Shu began creating a technique.
Meanwhile, the Five Poisons Secret Codex continued drawing in the Qi Mechanism on its own, strengthening his Five Poisons Inner Qi.
After devouring the Huashan Heart Method, the Jade Breaking Sword Art had long since reached perfection through extended cultivation beneath the Old Sophora Tree. Though it too could draw in Qi Mechanism, it could no longer strengthen his inner qi.
However, with the Jade Breaking Sword Art helping the Five Poisons Secret Codex draw in the Qi Mechanism, although the concentration here was lower than beneath the Old Sophora Tree, his cultivation progress was not the least bit slower.
After some time.
The Righteous Qi Sword Art successfully fused the essence of the Swallow Art, becoming ever more nimble and unpredictable!
As the sun rose.
Someone came to carry away the corpses of the Six Immortals of Peach Valley.
These people dressed very differently from those of the Five Peaks Sword Sect. They were likely members of the Sun Moon Holy Cult, or wandering martial artists close to Ren Yingying. Who knew how they had slipped onto the mountain?
Seeing that the Six Immortals of Peach Valley's upper garments had all been torn open and some toys had fallen onto the ground, they did not dare say much. They merely stuffed the toys back into the Six Immortals' arms, then either worked in pairs or carried a corpse alone on their backs as they hurried away with thudding footsteps.
Yue Lingshan happened to be heading up the mountain at that moment and brushed past them.
A flash of killing intent passed through their eyes. They exchanged glances, but ultimately gave up.
The Six Immortals of Peach Valley had been killed by members of the Mount Hua Sect. Naturally, they wanted to kill a few Mount Hua Sect members to wash away this humiliation!
But when they thought of Ji Shu's strength on the mountain, as well as Ren Yingying's warning, they could only force down their displeasure and killing intent before quickly leaving.
Ji Shu's perception had grown stronger again. Watching the retreating figures of those Demonic Cult members, he narrowed his eyes. If they dared make any reckless move, the Darts in his sleeves would shoot forth and send them to the western paradise.
"Ji Shu, Ji Shu!"
Yue Lingshan's familiar, cheerful voice rang out.
Ji Shu waved at Yue Lingshan and greeted her with a smile. "Master Yue."
"Why did you come here?"
Yue Lingshan trotted up to Ji Shu, blinking her large eyes. Covering her mouth, she asked in surprise,
"Don't tell me you slept here all night yesterday."
"Mm."
"Why did you come all the way to this mountaintop to sleep?"
Ji Shu explained why.
Though Yue Lingshan came to a sudden realization, she did not make any pointless attempt. Back beneath the Old Sophora Tree on Mount Hua, she had discovered that she could not sense this so-called Qi Mechanism at all. She could only look at Ji Shu with envy and admiration, then brightly changed the subject.
"My father and mother are looking for you."
"Is something wrong?"
"They want you to eat."
"I'm not hungry."
"Hehe."
As if performing a magic trick, Yue Lingshan pulled a food box from behind her. "I heard someone say you were on the mountaintop, so I guessed you might be practicing here. That's why I prepared breakfast for you in advance. Here, hurry and eat. It's all food you like."
Ji Shu smiled and nodded. Without standing on ceremony, he accepted it and began eating, casually asking, "Who told you?"
"The pretty girl beside Eldest Senior Brother. I think her name was Yingying."
Ji Shu nodded.
At seventeen or eighteen, Yue Lingshan would have merely been a high school student on Earth. Her curiosity was quite strong, and she asked about the Six Immortals of Peach Valley.
Ji Shu did not hide anything from her.
After hearing it all, Yue Lingshan was filled with righteous indignation. "Are those old men crazy?! At first, seeing how old they were, I even called them grandpas. Hmph! They actually wanted to kill you while you were asleep, Ji Shu. They're truly hateful!"
"It's already over."
"That was too dangerous. Ji Shu, when you practice in the future, I'll keep watch for you at night."
"No need."
Ji Shu's cultivation had now reached the pinnacle realm. Looking across the world of The Smiling, Proud Wanderer, there were probably not many people he could regard as opponents.
But he still needed to become stronger. Before he possessed the strength to sweep aside everything, Ji Shu would not rashly undertake any Main Quest.
He would let everything take its natural course.
Only once he was invincible beneath the heavens would he proactively carry out quests. He also wanted to see what reward he would receive for completing the Tower of the Multiverse's quests!
Hong Yi had said that the rewards given by the Tower of the Multiverse were very special. Ji Shu was looking forward to them.
"I'm going to keep watch for you!"
Ji Shu said what Ji Shu wanted to say.
Yue Lingshan did what Yue Lingshan wanted to do.
Sure enough, she came that very night to keep watch for him. Seeing her shiver from the cold, Ji Shu was at a loss for words. He told her to go back, but she refused. Left with no choice, he said,
"Wear my clothes."
He took off his outer robe and draped it over Yue Lingshan.
Yue Lingshan froze. Feeling a warm breath spread from the robe throughout her body, her pretty face flushed all the way to the roots of her ears.
"Are you still cold?"
"No."
Yue Lingshan's voice was as faint as a mosquito's hum.
Ji Shu's inner strength was profound, and his hearing and sight were sharp. He heard her clearly, but said nothing further. Lying on the boulder, he began to sleep.
With every breath he drew, white vapor streamed from his mouth and nose like ribbons of silk, then withdrew again. Countless clouds from all directions surged toward him, wrapping around him.
Thus.
Ji Shu seemed to be sleeping upon a Cloud Bed. In his deep slumber, he looked just like an immortal who had attained the Dao.
By the moonlight.
Yue Lingshan stared at him from the side, utterly entranced.
A cold wind blew over, making her shudder and instantly snap awake. Involuntarily, she wrapped the outer robe more tightly around herself. After some thought, she edged closer toward Ji Shu.
Ji Shu's body naturally radiated warmth. The closer she was, the warmer it became.
Late at night, Yue Lingshan yawned sleepily, her eyelids fighting to stay open. Acting on instinct, she drifted closer and closer to Ji Shu!
In the end, she leaned against him and fell asleep as well.
From afar.
Two people lay upon a Cloud Bed, both shrouded in moonlight and wrapped in clouds, looking exactly like a pair of immortal lovers from the heavens.
Late that night, Linghu Chong avoided Ren Yingying and climbed the mountain with his sword. At the sight of this scene, he was initially unable to believe it. But after confirming again and again that he was not mistaken, he nearly ground his teeth to pieces. Taking a deep breath, he turned and descended the mountain once more.
The moment he went down the mountain.
Ji Shu abruptly opened his eyes. With his perception stronger than ever, he had been awakened the moment Linghu Chong came up the mountain. Now, watching Linghu Chong's staggering retreating figure, he thought about it but did not interfere, quickly falling asleep again.
"How could this be? How could it be like this?!"
Linghu Chong was somewhat dazed and lost. He could not understand how, in just one short month, his Little Martial Sister had spent so long alone in a room with a man. Even less could he believe that his pure and spotless, innocent Little Martial Sister had actually fallen asleep like this with Ji Shu in the wilderness, taking heaven as their quilt and earth as their bed!
"It must be that shameless bastard Ji Shu who deceived her!"
