Background / History

Yue Lingshan is the daughter of Mount Hua Sect Leader Yue Buqun and Ning Zhongze. Raised within the sect and doted on by those around her, she is notably innocent and inexperienced with the dangers and scheming of the martial world. Ning Zhongze considers her flighty and worries that, despite training since childhood, she remains at the third-rate level. 6 13

While helping recruit disciples for Mount Hua, she accepts Ji Shu after witnessing him lift a heavy rock with unusual ease. Though initially reluctant to take a disciple, she brings him to her courtyard, names herself his master, and makes him her Chief Disciple of the Inner Sect—her first experience as a mentor. 2 3

She teaches Ji Shu Mount Hua Swordplay and later provides the secret manual for Nurturing My Sword Style. His immediate manifestation of Sword Qi shocks her, as she herself has trained in Mount Hua Swordplay for more than a decade without producing it.
