Yue Lingshan's face reddened as though it were about to drip blood. In a voice as soft as a mosquito's buzz, she said:
"I-I twisted my ankle. I didn't do it on purpose."
"I know."
Ji Shu smiled, helped her up, then crouched slightly and held her ankle, channeling the Balanced Inner Strength of the Huashan Heart Method into her to disperse the bruising and loosen her meridians.
Yue Lingshan's body stiffened, and she did not dare move. Her heartbeat grew louder and louder until, in the end, it was like rolling thunder, booming so fiercely that her whole head spun as if she were drunk. Only when Ji Shu said, "All right," and helped her to her feet did she seem to come back to herself. Somewhat dazedly, she asked:
"It's all right now?"
"It's all right. Try walking. Can you still walk?"
Ji Shu's voice was warm and smooth as jade, rich and pleasing.
The more Yue Lingshan listened, the better it sounded. At that moment, she did not even dare look Ji Shu in the eye. She tentatively took two steps and said:
"I'm fine. I-I'm going back."
"Walk slower on the way. Don't twist your ankle again."
"I know. You too—be careful not to catch a chill."
She hurried forward two steps, then turned back to glance at Ji Shu. Blushing, she said, "I'll bring you something to eat later."
"Thank you, Master Yue."
"I am your Master Yue, after all."
When Yue Lingshan saw that Ji Shu's expression was as usual, without the slightest change, an inexplicable sense of disappointment rose in her heart. Yet for some reason, much of her nervousness and shyness gradually faded as well. Forcing herself to remain calm, she said:
"Isn't it only right for me to be good to you? I'm leaving. See you later."
"See you later."
Tap, tap, tap!
Yue Lingshan walked away with quick taps of her feet, her steps far more disorderly than usual.
Ji Shu merely watched her for a moment before lying back down and closing his eyes in feigned sleep.
He began drawing the Qi Mechanism into his Dantian, transforming it into Five Poisons Inner Qi.
A night passed.
His Five Poisons Inner Qi had grown by no less than fifty percent!
At this rate, he estimated that his Five Poisons Inner Qi might reach major attainment tomorrow.
Once it truly reached that point, his Hundred Poisons Immunity might evolve into Thousand Poisons Immunity. As for Ten Thousand Poisons Immunity? He did not dare dream of that yet. But with perfected Five Poisons Inner Qi protecting his body, even if he were poisoned by a deadly toxin, he could quickly purge it. For the time being, he could set aside his worries about poison.
"When roaming the martial world, what one fears most are those despicable tricks. They're impossible to guard against. No matter how formidable a master is, deadly poison can still knock them unconscious and bring them down! Fortunately, even while I lie here sleeping, I can cultivate the Five Poisons Secret Codex to the completion stage."
He nodded to himself and continued sleeping.
He could grow stronger just by lying down and sleeping.
These two Supreme Talents truly defied the heavens. He was now more and more eager to see what other talents he would receive once the second floor of the Talent Tower opened!
In the blink of an eye.
Night had come again.
Ji Shu had lain there for an entire day.
Yue Lingshan had practiced her swordsmanship for an entire day as well.
Of course, at mealtimes, she would run off to eat, conveniently bringing food back for Ji Shu.
Lin Pingzhi had volunteered to bring food to Ji Shu, but for some reason, Yue Lingshan tactfully declined. She still insisted on bringing the meals herself, carrying all sorts of delicious pastries and fine dishes for Ji Shu.
Whenever Ji Shu ate, she would squat beside him, blinking as she watched him eat. Whenever Ji Shu ate with gusto, she would look deeply satisfied, as if she had accomplished something great.
And whenever she practiced her swordsmanship until she thoroughly understood it and received Ji Shu's praise—
She would be very happy as well.
Feeling that all the bitterness and exhaustion had been worth it!
That night.
She deliberately brought several thick coats, giving one to Ji Shu while draping another over herself.
After practicing swordsmanship until she grew sleepy, she saw that Ji Shu had fallen asleep. Unable to resist, she moved closer and softly called Ji Shu's name several times. Only after seeing that he did not react did she feel at ease leaning beside him, secretly thinking:
How strange. Why is it so comfortable and warm beside Ji Shu?
At that moment, a shooting star streaked across the sky. Her eyes brightened slightly, and she hurriedly clasped her hands together to make a wish.
No one knew what wish she had made. Ji Shu, sleeping deeply, did not know.
Nor did Yue Lingshan have any intention of telling anyone.
She merely blushed, leaned against Ji Shu's back, and gradually drifted off to sleep as well!
When she woke the next day.
Yue Lingshan found herself in the same awkward situation as yesterday. This time, however, she behaved much more naturally and did not twist her ankle again. Her heart still beat somewhat fast, but for some reason, she seemed to greatly enjoy the feeling. She felt as though some nameless joy had taken root in her heart.
Yue Lingshan, who had never been in love, did not know what this feeling was. But instinctively, she found herself wanting to embrace it.
"Little Junior Sister, Ji Shu!"
Lu Dayou came up the mountain with Lin Pingzhi.
Seeing Yue Lingshan's flushed, bashful appearance, they could not help exchanging looks.
Lu Dayou coughed dryly. "Did we come at the wrong time? How about this—you two keep talking, and we'll come back later!"
"Sixth Senior Brother!"
Yue Lingshan stamped her foot and said coquettishly:
"What nonsense are you saying?"
Lu Dayou laughed awkwardly and decisively changed the subject:
"Master and Martial Mother sent me to call you down the mountain. The Five Peaks Alliance is about to begin the Arena Competition!"
"It's starting already?"
Yue Lingshan was slightly taken aback. Time had passed so quickly—several days had gone by in the blink of an eye. She looked at the huge boulder beside them with some reluctance. Once she left this time, who knew when she would have another chance like this?
"Then let's go."
Ji Shu nodded.
At daybreak.
He had discovered that his Five Poisons Inner Qi had reached completion. There was no further room for advancement.
His inner strength cultivation had soared!
In both quality and quantity, his Five Poisons Inner Qi was only slightly inferior to the Jade Breaking Sword Art!
Thus, the height of his current internal cultivation was easy to imagine!
When Yue Buqun had sensed his inner strength, he had taken the opportunity to sense Yue Buqun's cultivation as well. His current inner strength definitely surpassed that of two Yue Buquns and was close to that of three!
His days of lying here and sleeping had not been in vain!
His effort had not gone to waste!
The group headed down the mountain.
Yue Lingshan occasionally looked back toward the mountaintop, a trace of longing flashing through her eyes.
Lu Dayou saw it all and smiled. Originally, he had favored the relationship between Eldest Senior Brother and Little Junior Sister. But after Ji Shu joined the sect, Little Junior Sister's relationship with Ji Shu seemed to have advanced by leaps and bounds! He was more than happy to see Yue Lingshan and Ji Shu become a loving couple. After all, Ji Shu was the hero and benefactor who had saved the Mount Hua Sect several times. Lu Dayou had long since acknowledged and supported Ji Shu from the bottom of his heart.
Lin Pingzhi stood nearby, seeming to want to say something but holding back. Yet remembering that Yue Buqun was still testing him, he could only suppress the words on the tip of his tongue.
During this time, he had also come to understand in depth what kind of person Ji Shu was.
At the time, his jaw had nearly dropped in shock!
Was there really a genius in this world who could cultivate for one month and become terrifying enough to rampage through the martial world, slaughtering all in his path?!
That was far too terrifying!
Thinking of how he had cultivated for more than ten years and was still only mediocre, Lin Pingzhi felt disheartened. If he possessed Supreme Talent like Ji Shu's, then even if he cultivated the most trashy martial arts, he would likely still be able to avenge his family's blood feud!
