Background / History

Tsunade is a Konoha Sannin and the ninja world’s foremost medical ninja. While transformed into a wild boar by an unknown forbidden technique, she is pursued and defeated by Uchiha Yoichi during his mission in the Forest of Death. Unable to identify herself in that form, she later resolves to investigate both the transformation and Yoichi’s unusual Lightning Release Chakra Mode. 7 8

After Dan Katō’s death, Tsunade develops hemophobia severe enough that she cannot perform surgery. She rejects Hiruzen Sarutobi’s suggestion that she take students and states that she does not intend to remain in Konoha for long. 9 Despite this trauma, her medical ability remains exceptional: she can rapidly heal injuries with the Palm Healing Technique and can treat multiple people through Katsuyu. 23 115

Her initial hostility toward Yoichi stems from the wild-boar incident and his teasing. When Senju Tobirama returns as an Edo Tensei, Tsunade acts as an intermediary between him and Yoichi. She defends Yoichi’s leadership, introduces Tobirama to the modern village, and insists that Yoichi’s strength makes Uchiha Madara a manageable threat. 241 242 During Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki’s attack on Konoha, she fights alongside Hashirama and Tobirama, survives the explosion, and criticizes herself for neglecting her training. 296

Alternate-Timeline Events

In another timeline visited by an Onmyōji version of Yoichi, Tsunade loses Hashirama’s necklace in a gamble. As compensation, Yoichi revives Nawaki, implants new cultivation and Nintaijutsu knowledge in her memory, and motivates her to return to Konoha. 310

That Tsunade later learns that Yoichi’s assistance is tied to a different timeline in which they are married and have a daughter named Yoko. She accepts a gene-modification serum that restores her peak physical condition. 315

Her gambling and drinking habits are a persistent weakness. She frequently runs out of money, collects commission payments to restore her gambling capital, and relies on Shizune to prevent her from spending everything. 152 160 Nevertheless, she is compassionate and responsible in a crisis: despite hemophobia and battlefield danger, she returns to treat Konoha’s injured. 165 166
