Several days later, deep within the Returning Ruins—the Endless Ruins.
The entire Void Domain was almost devoid of light, dim and murky. Layer upon layer of broken walls and shattered structures floated through the void, densely packed and boundless as far as the eye could see.
This was a death zone no Returning Ruins cultivator wished to set foot in. Its territory stretched for tens of thousands of miles, and on the Returning Ruins map drawn by the Divine Court, it had been circled over and over in bright red ink, marked as a forbidden zone of the highest danger.
No one had ever fully explored this place. Everywhere lay remnants left behind by the great war of the Ancient Era: shattered palace beams and pillars, broken fragments of magical treasures, weathered ancient steles and foundation stones, piled layer upon layer and crisscrossing in every direction.
The ruins crowded out all sight, like a sea of dry bones that had lain silent for eternity.
Entering this place was like a small fish plunging into an ocean of dense, shadowy aquatic plants. Once it drifted even slightly farther away, it would vanish completely, unable to leak even the faintest trace of its aura.
It was utter chaos. Divine sense could not penetrate it, perception was twisted, and even Heavenly Secrets had been stirred into a pot of murk.
The most terrifying thing was never the complex terrain, but the invisible killing intent lurking everywhere.
Within the cracks of the ruined structures hid fragments of ancient restrictions that had long since failed, yet had not dispersed.
In the folds of the void lingered the frozen residual might left behind after slaughter in the Ancient Era.
There was no dazzling spiritual radiance to warn of danger, nor any violent fluctuation of spiritual power.
