An hour later, the group climbed up into a mountain hollow.
Gazing into the distance, they saw a plume of black qi shooting into the sky. A faint killing intent lingered between heaven and earth, making goosebumps ripple uncontrollably across their skin.
When the gray mist dispersed, they looked closely and vaguely saw a pool of water there, black as ink. Even amid the swirling gray fog, it stood out like a black gemstone.
"B-Black Dragon Pool... we're here."
Huo Dong Ming shuddered, his face filled with horror. "We've already hidden deep enough. If we go any farther, the killing intent of Black Dragon Pool will grind us to pieces."
"There's no road ahead." Mo Fan's face had gone pale.
"Young Brother Wei, is that thing still following us?" Fan Gu swallowed and urged.
"It stopped following when we stopped moving forward. That Humanoid Fierce Beast is gone," Qin He said.
"Really?" Fan Gu asked. Then he hurried back, carefully peering down the path they had come from. "When did it disappear?"
"Just now," Qin He said.
The remaining few also turned back. Seeing that the path behind them was straight and visible at a glance, with no sign of the Humanoid Fierce Beast, they heaved huge sighs of relief and collapsed onto the ground.
"Heaven has finally shown mercy."
"Let's wait. If it doesn't show up again after a while, we'll head back."
"There's no way forward."
Qin He climbed onto the mountain hollow and glanced back at the four bedraggled people. Leaving behind a clone, he put on his bamboo hat, shouldered the Big Black Shovel, and continued onward.
For some unknown reason, the remnants of the killing formations here had become much sparser. In their place was the frigid killing intent emanating from that black pool.
