Rather than touch anything with his hands, Evan cautiously picked up a branch and carefully poked through the Crow Hag's belongings.
He left the unlabeled bottles and jars alone. Some of the prepared herbs might have been useful to him, but Evan was not sure he would have the courage to swallow a potion made from materials the Crow Hag had kept...
Just when Evan thought he might find nothing, he discovered a parchment scroll tucked close against her body. The slightly yellowed parchment was stored in a reddish-brown leather case, utterly unlike the rest of the clutter on her.
There was no time for a thorough inspection, so he stuffed it directly into his backpack. He had heard that the battle over there had already ended. Evan did not know how the crow-men dealt with such strange spoils, and he had no desire to fight them again.
Sure enough.
Not long after the battle ended, raging flames rose up. The ensuing stench of burning flesh made Evan frown. He did not have the crow-men's "gas masks."

"It's fine, just a minor injury. The Crow Hag's spiritual misdirection was too powerful. Even the Silver Amulet couldn't block it completely." It was no great secret, so Sabuk had no intention of hiding it from Evan.
