In a dark alley, a middle-aged man in a suit suddenly underwent a drastic transformation of the head, which turned into a huge mouth and swallowed a heavily made-up, terrified woman whole. Blood splattered across the surrounding walls and dripped down continuously.
He then swiftly returned to his original form, his face blank and expressionless, as though nothing had happened.
After Parasytes infected their hosts, they would likewise prey upon others of their kind, and if their bodies suffered severe damage, they would switch bodies.
This gave them a behavioral pattern similar to ghouls.
They were emotionless, brutal, bloodthirsty, and mostly possessed sufficient intelligence and learning ability. Their thinking and reaction speeds far exceeded those of humans.
Having only recently arrived on Earth, the Parasytes were still mostly observing humans, imitating humans, and learning new knowledge, temporarily hiding among them.
"Huh? What a strange Kagune. Even your head can transform? That's way too outrageous."
But after the Parasyte finished feeding, the voice from above caught his attention, and he looked up.
On a balcony stood a blond young man dressed in a somewhat hip-hop style, coldly watching the scene of his feeding.
"So you're the outsider who killed those two briefcase carriers recently. This is my turf. Didn't you ask around first?"
As he spoke, the blond youth leaped down and blocked the Parasyte's path, cutting off his way out of the alley.
Under the high-pressure environment of the Federation, ghouls kept a low profile. Most survived on artificial blood plasma and naturally deceased corpses.
The number of accidental deaths in the US Federal every day was enough to support a large number of ghouls. Those with ambition had already fled to Dongjing, and most of those who remained followed the unspoken rules.
