When the hearing ended and Clark left the venue, the flashes of countless media cameras flickered outside, seeming to bear witness to the end of a legend.
The front pages of most media outlets featured Superman in handcuffs.
"This is all those politicians' doing. You didn't have to go at all."
At home, Louis held Clark, her face full of heartache.
Looking at his girlfriend, Clark could only force a smile.
To keep her from worrying, he had not told her that The Kents had been kidnapped.
And because of Lex Luthor's earlier threats, he did not even dare stray too far from Louis. He had little time to search for his adoptive parents, much less rescue them.
His heart was now filled with despair.
"Why don't you talk it over with your friends? And your parents and godfather."
Louis gently rubbed her face against Clark's as she offered her suggestion.
When someone was troubled by something, dwelling on it alone could make them angrier and send them further down a dead end. At times like this, they needed the company of family, friends, and loved ones.
"I'll go."
Hearing Louis's words, Clark seemed to find his way forward.
That was right. Since he could not get away himself, he could only ask his bratty little brother and Uncle Zod for help.
Uncle Zod was even stronger than he was!
But just as Clark made up his mind, his phone rang.
When he picked it up and looked at it, his expression changed.
The message contained another new photo of The Kents!
It was Lex Luthor!
