Background

Sunaifa is the daughter of Glen Boreas, the former Truefrost Warmother. When Glen Boreas and her entire hunting party were killed by an unknown monster, Sunaifa was only fourteen and had not fully awakened her Icekin bloodline; tradition nevertheless made her the tribe's successor. 265

She later found Blizzard, Boreas's ancient Truefrost weapon, in the Ancient Frostland and earned its recognition. The weapon's pain and extreme cold became inseparable from her leadership: it strengthened her focus, accelerated her growth, and secured the submission of a Truefrost Tribe that had been nearing collapse. 227

As Warmother, Sunaifa performed an ancient Icekin ritual at Old Frost Maw. The ritual revealed the Iceborn Tribes' long decline, a future Northern Territory unification, and the arrival of a man from the mountain summit who could endure Truefrost and change everything. 227 277

When Gao De arrived through the Erwinlaya Mountains and fulfilled key parts of the prophecy, Sunaifa accepted him as the Truefrost King. She became his most trusted military and political counterpart, leading tribal affairs and unification while Gao De focused on Phoenix's development. 277 278 440

Appearance

Sunaifa is a tall, slender young woman with exceptionally fair skin, silver hair, and deep blue eyes likened to a frozen lake. Her refined appearance contrasts with the towering build typical of Northern Territory people, while her bearing projects cold authority and nobility. 268 385

  • A faint, ancient totem rests between her pale brows. 268
  • Her usual battle attire is deep blue, nearly black, with a broad tasseled cloak and a long skirt. 268
  • She carries the person-height Ice Bow Blizzard on her back. 268
  • At home, she wears a deep-purple ice-silk robe embroidered with gold patterns, silver trim, and a white skirt. 273
  • When equipped with Breath of the Wild, she wears silver-white rune armor composed of a breastplate, bracers, greaves, boots, and headpiece. 287

Personality

Sunaifa is composed, reserved, and difficult to read. She rarely displays strong emotion, does not smile easily, and maintains a calm, detached manner even in tense negotiations or battle. 273 385 449

Her restraint does not mean passivity. She makes swift decisions in crises, protects Phoenix's interests without gambling on strangers' intentions, and is willing to use overwhelming force against threats to Gao De or the Truefrost people. 285 449 561

She possesses unusual talent for administration and judging people. Sunaifa accurately recognized Aisha's ambition and suitability for government work, supported the appointment of outsiders to important Phoenix positions, and treats change as necessary for progress. 387

Abilities & Skills

Truefrost Magic

As a peak Fourth Circle Frostborn Mage, Sunaifa channels the ancient power of her pure Icekin bloodline through Blizzard. Her Truefrost attacks are potent enough to overwhelm ordinary Fourth Circle defenses and threaten Fifth Circle Mages. 286 562

  • Forms Truefrost Arrows capable of freezing targets, generating ice tornadoes, and striking at extreme range. 286 538
  • Can release multiple arrows simultaneously; her three-arrow finishing move froze Ryan the Arbiter and his Zombie Behemoth together. 287 288
  • Casts enhanced Truefrost versions of conventional spells, including Ice Storm and Ice Walls. 448
  • Can create an ice domain that temporarily prevents an incorporeal creature from escaping through intangibility. 538
  • Her Truefrost Spell purified Ryan's Fourth Circle Curse, restoring her casting ability and adding minor protection. 286

Cross-Circle Combat

Sunaifa is regarded as nearly invincible among Fourth Circle Mages. With Blizzard and Breath of the Wild, she has defeated opponents above her rank. 286 300 360

  • Killed Ryan the Arbiter, a Fifth Circle Necromancer, after analyzing the limits of his Zombie Behemoth and timing a triple-arrow attack. 287 288
  • Fought Fifth Circle Fire Mage Master Ram to a stalemate, despite his superior rank and extensive combat experience. 447 448
  • Easily suppressed the Warmothers of Winter's Hammer and the Frostwolf Clan simultaneously. 360 440
  • Defeated Winter's Hammer Warmother Yarna in fewer than three breaths with three Truefrost Arrows. 561 562
  • Her main limitation is the fundamental suppression exerted by High-Ring Mages; she considers her victory over Ryan an exceptional result dependent on Blizzard and Breath of the Wild. 307

Evergreen Longevity Sutra

Sunaifa adopted the Evergreen Longevity Sutra after her Icekin bloodline reached its natural Fourth Circle limit. Her pact with the Icejade Wutong gave her a second source of cultivation and access to its Plant Essence. 291

  • Her Sacred Tree shares its lifespan with her. 291
  • Reached Second Circle in the sutra and awakened Nature's Speech. 363
  • Can communicate with plants through Nature's Speech. 363
  • The sutra's cultivation strengthened her already formidable peak Fourth Circle combat power. 562

Leadership and Strategy

Sunaifa is Phoenix's principal military commander and one of its foremost administrators.

  • Identifies decisive targets in combat, such as locating and killing Ryan rather than wasting forces on his skeleton army. 285
  • Led Phoenix's defense during Gao De's absence and integrated six smaller tribes into Truefrost. 360
  • Used Northwest Barley No. 1 and Gao De's economic strategy to pursue nonviolent tribal unification where possible. 309
  • Directed the annexation of Winter's Hammer, preserved its forging infrastructure, and established the satellite city of Ironforge Citadel. 562 563
  • Oversees personnel, resources, census work, city planning, research institutions, and the expansion of the Heart of the North Border. 363 388 472 648

Flight and Reconnaissance

Sunaifa can fly at speeds exceeding 100 kilometers per hour, allowing her to cross the distance from Phoenix to Winter's Hammer within a day. 447

  • Uses her Magic Falcon, Azurewind, for high-altitude reconnaissance and target tracking. 285
  • Coordinated with Catherine's tracking to locate Master Ram and the Void Creature. 537 538
  • Employs Azurewind to deliver written messages across Phoenix. 544

  • Icejade WutongPhoenix's guardian divine tree and Sunaifa's Sacred Tree under the Evergreen Longevity Sutra. 291

  • Yarna — Warmother of Winter's Hammer and an enemy of Phoenix. Sunaifa ultimately killed her during the campaign to assimilate Winter's Hammer. 561 562

Story Role / Major Arcs

Guardian of the Icejade Wutong

Sunaifa investigated cracks forming on the Icejade Wutong and sought outside assistance when the tribe could not identify the cause. Flora determined that the guardian tree was advancing from Fifth Order to Sixth Tier but lacked sufficient Ice Elemental power. Sunaifa arranged for Flora to supervise the gradual replenishment process. 267 269

Recognition of the Truefrost King

After explaining the ancient prophecy to Gao De, Sunaifa witnessed him resolve the Truefrost Tribe's internal crisis and accepted him as king. She then provided him with a Fourth-Order spiritual ground, Ice Marrow, and the tribe's spell formulas, establishing the material foundation of his rule. 277 279

Battle Against Ryan the Arbiter

During the undead assault on the Truefrost army, Sunaifa immediately targeted the hidden necromancer rather than his skeleton forces. Although Ryan's Fifth Circle power and Curse spell placed her at a severe disadvantage, she used Blizzard, Truefrost magic, and Breath of the Wild to kill him. 285 286 287

Expansion of Phoenix

Sunaifa became central to Phoenix's transformation from tribe to city. She defended Phoenix from hostile tribes, integrated smaller communities, increased agricultural manpower, coordinated governance reforms, and worked with Gao De and Aisha on city planning. 309 360 386 388

Conflict with Winter's Hammer

After Winter's Hammer moved against Gao De, Sunaifa traveled alone to demand accountability. Her attempt was interrupted by Master Ram, but the encounter alerted her to an outside power searching for Yggdrasil. She responded by reinforcing Phoenix's secrecy and security. 447 448 449

When Phoenix later launched its unification campaign, Sunaifa led the army against Winter's Hammer, killed Yarna, accepted Joran's surrender, and prioritized taking control of the tribe's forging system over merely seizing supplies. 560 561 562

Ironforge Citadel and Northern Unification

Sunaifa helped turn Winter's Hammer into Ironforge Citadel, a Phoenix-controlled satellite city built around its forging industry. She later implemented Gao De's governance principles during the Frostwolf Clan's bloodless submission, bringing preliminary Northern Territory unification. 563 594

Void Threat and Aethernet

Sunaifa assisted Master Ram in killing a powerful Void Creature that infiltrated Phoenix, using her ice domain to prevent it from turning incorporeal. She later joined Gao De in exploring the Aethernet and helped Aisha connect to the new communication network. 538 539 547
