Background / History

Shadow began as a System-created training proxy. Its cultivation directly benefitted Su Xiaobai: after one Shadow completed the Basic Body Tempering Method, Su Xiaobai received the corresponding advancement without personally training for months. 6

After Automated Monster Hunting was unlocked, Shadows became autonomous hunters capable of killing Fierce Beasts, collecting loot, and returning to the field after being destroyed. Su Xiaobai later upgraded the function to create multiple Shadows, turning monster hunting into a scalable source of materials and wealth. 8 14

Initially limited to unarmed combat, the Shadows gained access to Su Xiaobai's techniques and equipment. Their improved combat methods let them use long weapons and group attacks against Fierce Beasts and hostile human teams. 44 46

During the attack on the Yuan Family, Su Xiaobai openly used a cloaked, masked Shadow as an enforcer. One Shadow massacred warriors inside the manor while another eliminated targets outside; both were then teleported away and returned to monster hunting. 49 52

As the System evolved, Shadows changed from obedient tools into an expanding, intelligent legion. They gained the ability to receive broad orders, conceal themselves, forge into weapons, erase karma, synthesize into superior variants, and operate in coordinated formations without Su Xiaobai's direct control. 262 280 321 401 623

Appearance

A standard Shadow is a pitch-black, faceless humanoid figure. It can be concealed beneath ordinary clothing or altered into a near-perfect imitation of Su Xiaobai. 30 49 442

• Faceless form — Its original body has no visible facial features, causing human opponents to mistake it for an unnatural entity rather than a warrior. 30
• Disguise — A Shadow used against the Yuan Family wore a black cloak and mask, carried an Alloy Grade longsword, and was mistaken for a human intruder. 49
• Imitation — Shadow No. 1 can replicate Su Xiaobai's face, physique, life aura, destiny line, and karma line. 442

Personality

Early Shadows are silent, wholly obedient extensions of Su Xiaobai. They do not counterattack humans without authorization and act only after receiving his command. 30 168

Beginner Intelligence allows Shadows to understand general instructions and address Su Xiaobai as “Master.” With later upgrades, they can assess danger, conceal themselves, coordinate with other Shadows, and choose efficient combat or looting roles independently. 262 321 623
