Background and History
In the Ancient Era, the Demon Race fielded legions and stood in irreconcilable conflict with humanity. The Earth Core Fire Marshal's demon fortress was deliberately designed to perish, along with its nearly ten thousand demons, once a human successor emerged. 623 862
The race became far less visible over the following millennium. Elder Yang Yiguan nevertheless confirmed that transformed Demonic Beasts had reappeared in the True Spirit Domain, including the force responsible for the destruction of the Beast Taming Sect 107 years earlier. 623
After Great Zhou's founding, its powerful figures drove the Demon Race from the Primordial Era, forcing it to establish itself in the secondary Taimeng Demon Realm. The race later returned through large-scale invasions and opened temporary spatial channels into the Primordial Continent. 3447 2812
During the later war, the Demon Race pursued the resurrection of its Primordial Demon Gods through blood qi, malevolent qi, sacrificial formations, and the power of its own cultivators. Great Prophet Jiu Xi partially merged his soul projection with the Moon Demon Primordial Demon God Yue Zhong in an attempt to raise it to Dao Ancestor-level power. 3337 3340 3341
The campaign ended in catastrophe. After the final Primordial Demon God Amiqi and numerous Creation Realm experts fell, Great Prophet Jiu Yan surrendered the Heavenly Secrets Jade Bone to Ye Zhen and begged for the race's survival. 3455
Society and Government
The Demon Race is divided into numerous clans, royal bloodlines, subordinate tribes, and vassal races. Its internal organization is described as complex, chaotic, and heavily tribal; only imperial-family bloodlines are generally self-governing, while other lords and clans often live intermixed. 1370
Strength, bloodline, and military merit determine status. Demon society prizes military merit above all else, and its political order is correspondingly warlike. At the highest levels, bloodline determines authority: the Demon Emperor lineage is most revered, followed by royal lines such as the Moon Demons, Three-Eyed Demons, and Winged Demons. 1714 3093

Forms and Identification
After transformation, most demons resemble human martial artists closely enough that they cannot be identified by sight alone. They can cultivate and travel openly in human form. 623
- During emotional agitation or full combat, demons may reveal traits such as ears, tails, wings, or enlarged true forms. Higher cultivation makes these traits less likely to appear involuntarily. 623
- Reverting to a true form greatly increases the combat power of many demon clans and can reveal innate divine abilities rather than learned martial skills. 963
- Demon residences are built with enormous courtyards because inhabitants periodically return to their true forms to stretch or rest. 1950
- The human form is considered the most suitable form for comprehending the laws of heaven and earth, so nearly all demons ultimately pursue transformation. 1946
Bloodline and Cultivation
Bloodline is the central limitation and advantage of the Demon Race. A demon's status and potential are largely determined at birth, unlike humans, whose social and cultivation standing can change more readily through effort and opportunity. 1948
Ancient memories, traditions, inherited Dao Marks, and some innate divine abilities are carried through bloodlines. These inheritances awaken when a demon reaches sufficient cultivation or activates its bloodline. 1107 1680
- With adequate bloodline talent and cultivation resources, demons can advance at speeds difficult for human cultivators to match. 2134
- Ancient bloodlines can unlock inherited Dao Marks and allow some demons to break into the Creation Realm through bloodline power alone. 1680 3130
- Bloodline advancement is exceptionally valuable; awakening even a trace of ancient bloodline can increase a demon's combat power a hundredfold. 732
- The advantage weakens at the Dao Realm threshold. Most demons struggle to comprehend the Dao and may never break through, even with powerful bloodlines. 2134
- Dragon bloodline pressure causes instinctive fear among many Demonic Beasts and demon clans, reflecting an inherited recognition of the Dragon Race as the source and king of beasts. 2134
Major Clans and Lineages
| Clan / lineage | Known characteristics |
|---|---|
| Demon Emperor lineage | One-eyed “Cyclops” demons with thin but exceptionally powerful bloodlines. Their physical bodies possess metallic luster and can defeat stronger opponents; Cong Yun's skin resisted attacks comparable to powerful Acquired Spirit Treasures. 2048 2066 |
| Three-Eyed Demon Race | A royal line with a golden-rimmed, blood-red third vertical eye. Its members possess strong physiques and potent innate Divine Abilities, though comparatively weaker Primordial Spirit power. 1849 2048 |
| Moon Demon Clan | A royal clan whose power and healing increase under moonlight. Its ancestral land was used in the attempted resurrection of the Primordial Demon God Yue Zhong. 2177 3337 |
| Multi-armed Demon Race | A powerful combat race with metallic cuticle. Adults begin as Two-armed Demons; each cultivation breakthrough adds two arms. Four- and Six-armed forms are common, while Eight- and Ten-armed forms are rarer. 835 |
| Four-armed Naga | A main combat race. Females are massive close-combat fighters, while males are smaller but possess powerful Soul Power, four-colored soul light, and five-element Spirit Techniques. 2057 |
| Ironclad Demon Race | A defense-focused race with natural iron armor that can be enhanced through natal-blood secret arts. 2075 2885 |
| Winged Demon Race | Winged combatants capable of rapid aerial movement; their inherited laws include spatial, lightning, and wind-related powers. 2050 3384 |
| Tiger Clan | One of the major Taimeng Demon Realm powers, ruling one-tenth of that realm's territory alongside numerous subordinate and vassal tribes. 1946 |
| Qingqiu Fox Clan | Renowned within the Demon Race as strategists, logisticians, planners, and formulators of battlefield tactics. 2680 |
Military Organization
The Demon Race uses a comparatively simple conventional military system. 2162
| Unit | Size | Commander |
|---|---|---|
| Small team | 100 soldiers | Hundred-Man General |
| Squadron | 1,000 soldiers | Thousand-Man General |
| Brigade | 10,000 soldiers | Ten Thousand Man Commander |
| Army | At least 30,000 soldiers | Army Commander |
Regional Grand Marshals oversee multiple armies. The most powerful standing force is the Thirty-Six Grand Marshals, each commanding at least one million elite soldiers; deploying them signals an imminent major war. 2162
Demon armies vary greatly by clan. Their strength depends heavily on the inherent combat power of the tribes that compose them, with some forces numbering only tens of thousands and others several hundred thousand. 2162
Warfare and Strategy
The Demon Race commonly relies on physical strength and close combat. Severe physical injury sharply reduces a demon's battle capability because much of its power depends on the body itself. 1959 2534
- Lower-ranking demons often view humans as food, wealth, slaves, or military merit. Human flesh and blood are believed to contain rich spiritual essence and can increase a demon's cultivation. 2145
- Demonic military operations may target outposts and beacon towers for food, slaves, wealth, military merit, or slaughter rather than strategic territory alone. 2145
- The race uses spies, bounties, human slaves, battle slaves, sacrificial formations, blood qi, and negative energy as tools of war. 1346 2219 2321 3340
- The Bloodlight Aura strengthens demons while repelling and weakening non-demon powers, allowing Demon Race forces to identify intruders by aura. 2293
- The Demon Race's Bloodlight Grand Formation beneath Blood River Military City was fueled by battlefield casualties and accumulated blood qi. 2321
- Its leaders were willing to sacrifice entire regions and clans—such as the Moon Demon ancestral land—to prepare larger strategic moves. 3336 3337
Major Conflicts
Human–Demon Hostility
Humanity and the Demon Race remained enduring enemies across multiple eras. During the Demon Race's invasion, its forces and allied demonic beasts created severe pressure on Great Zhou, including rebellions among Demonic Beast mounts that disrupted the empire's rear. 1937
The Human-Demon Battlefield became the principal front of this conflict. Although the Demon Race eventually breached the line during Great Zhou's internal instability, it continued to suffer heavy losses against organized human resistance. 2935
Alliance to Destroy Zhou and Zhen
The Demon Race sought to unite hostile foreign powers through the Alliance to Destroy Zhou and Zhen. Its intended purpose was intelligence sharing, coordinated operations, Ye Zhen's elimination, Great Zhou's destruction, and the division of the Primordial Continent. 2937
An Eight-Clan Alliance was formed from the Demon Race, Tiger Clan, Avian Demon Tribe, Insect Demon Clan, Bear Demon Clan, Wa Ling Race, West Sea Aquatic Race, and North Sea Aquatic Race. 2936
Primordial Demon God Resurrection
The Demon Race attempted to revive several Primordial Demon Gods, originally numbering nine when the race descended. These schemes used vast blood qi and negative-energy formations beneath the Human-Demon Battlefield and later beneath Sanhe City. 3337 3338
At Sanhe City, at least one hundred thousand World King Realm and Dao Realm demons continuously injected power into a crimson sea of blood to awaken Yue Zhong. 3340
Defeat and Plea for Survival
The loss of Amiqi, the last Primordial Demon God, five Creation Realm Divine Kings, and over one hundred Demon Gods left the race in crisis. Great Prophet Jiu Yan surrendered to Ye Zhen and pleaded for the Demon Race to survive. 3455
Ye Zhen ordered the destruction of the Demon Race's remaining Divine Kings, Divine Generals, and most Divine Beings, sparing only one Divine General and nine Divine Beings, including individuals with past ties to him. 3456
Trivia
- The Demon Race has no internal title of “Demon God” for its supreme rulers; that is a Human Race term for Demon Emperors. 1946
- The Demon Race's classifications are less standardized than human cultivation titles and are often used simultaneously to indicate both status and cultivation. 1946
- The race depends more heavily on trade than its martial reputation suggests, particularly for pills and refined artifacts it cannot produce as effectively as humans. 1937 1959
- Demon Race historical memory is unusually durable because bloodline inheritance preserves ancient traditions and ancestral knowledge. 1107
