Xu Qi looked up, momentarily losing his words...
In the air! A civilian helicopter was slowly descending, and standing on that helicopter—weren't they Mobius and Eden!?
As the helicopter descended halfway, a rope ladder dropped down.
"Come on up! V2V is on the helicopter!"
Chief Engineer Xia, who had come out with them, seemed to realize something. He looked at Xu Qi, hesitated for a long time, and shouted, "Xia Ya, that kid! I'm leaving him to you!"
Xu Qi nodded heavily.
"I will stop him... I will!"
Mei suddenly rushed up to Xu Qi, not caring that they were in full view of everyone, and threw herself into his arms.
Her fragile body tightly embraced Xu Qi, her love for him unreserved.
Xu Qi's raised hand paused in the air, then he likewise embraced Mei. He hugged her tightly, as if trying to meld her into his body.
They looked into each other's eyes and kissed.
Yae decisively covered Fu Hua and Pardofelis's eyes.
Chief Engineer Xia was also stunned. His previously ashen expression couldn't help but break into a hearty smile at this moment.
And those who saw this scene were more or less moved—this was the final kiss before life and death.
As their lips parted, Mei was already in tears. She looked at Xu Qi and said, "Live."
Xu Qi said half-jokingly, "If I survive and the crowdfunding group ④⑤⑥①②⑦⑨④⓪ is successful, remember to give me a reward."
"If you survive, my body is yours."
Mei's loving words made Xu Qi momentarily want to give up.
"Go, my... great hero."
Mei released Xu Qi.
And Xu Qi no longer hesitated, grabbing the rope ladder and leaving with the helicopter.
Live... must... live!
On the helicopter, Mobius opened the rear cabin. There—a black and white V2V Armor, half again as tall as a person, stood quietly on the maintenance platform.
"Xia Ya's heavy Exoskeleton Armor is definitely military-grade, but ours isn't bad either. Like Vil-V's screen name—V2V isn't just for show!"
Xu Qi stared at the armor in front of him. Just as he took a deep breath and prepared to step forward, Eden suddenly said, "Xu Qi."
"Sister Eden, what is it?"
"Just like Xia Ya created all this to ask a question, we at the Golden Courtyard are acting in this way because... we also hope you can provide the answer to this question."
Eden, who hadn't had time to change out of her dress, looked stunningly beautiful at this moment.
She stepped forward, placed her hands on Xu Qi's shoulders, and said solemnly, "Live! Don't let so many people's expectations turn into disappointment."
"I will."
Eden smiled.
"Go, like I said that day, I hope that when I return to the Golden Courtyard, the fourteen of us will gather together for dinner."
"Ha! If I don't get Mei's reward, I won't die so easily!"
With that, he strode forward, and V2V seemed to sense Xu Qi's arrival. The Exoskeleton Armor opened, revealing the accommodation pod inside.
He turned and entered V2V.
A slightly cyan black chest armor merged against Xu Qi's chest. At the same time, the pure white limbs also closed, the faceplate lowered, and green eyes suddenly bloomed with starlight.
At this time, the helicopter had reached the underground tunnel above the substation switch zone.
V2V's solar furnace operated at high speed! HK Particles enveloped the entire V2V Armor in an instant. This machine's performance... was at least 7 times better than the GD-78-2!
And the price, of course, was the terrifying gravitational acceleration that the pilot had to endure—15G.
But now Xu Qi's body could handle this gravity.
Xia Ya, you say that the human soul is bound by gravity, so it needs purification and cleansing. Then let me use V2V, which has broken free from the shackles of gravity, to correct you!
"V2V Armor! Launch!"
The ejection rail was ready, the helicopter's tail hatch opened, and the V2V Armor ejected out of the helicopter!
At the same time, the high horsepower of the HK Particles allowed V2V to almost fly in mid-air as it fell to the ground!
From now on...
"I am V2V!"
"The final light in her eyes… Mobius, did you let Griseo paint on the V2V Armor?"
Watching Xu Qi leave, Eden asked softly.
"Indeed. Griseo's paintings, like stars illuminating the world, can bring spiritual comfort and hope to everyone. I think… if it's Xu Qi, he will surely be able to realize something through it."
Eden nodded.
"Indeed, if it's Xu Qi, he certainly can."
Inside the hollow, dark underground tunnel, the massive Sazabi stood quietly next to the power switch, while at its feet lay the unconscious power company employee.
That's right, Xia Ya didn't kill him.
He stood there quietly, as if waiting for something to arrive.
On the monitor panel in front of him, a small portion of the screen showed that Train 956 had reached Lujiabang Road, meaning… it had traveled halfway.
Xu Qi…
"Hmm!?"
Xia Ya's eyes sharpened; he seemed to sense something. The massive Sazabi looked towards the tunnel connecting to the outside.
Something… there was definitely something! Approaching at high speed!
And—what powerful mental energy! Who is it? Is it you!? Xu Qi!
"Xia Ya!"
Xia Ya focused his gaze and saw a fierce black and white armor rushing towards him at high speed! Although the pilot controlling this Exoskeleton Armor was skilled, a hint of inexperience could still be seen.
After all, his age was a factor…
"Xu Qi!"
Xia Ya drew the hilt from his waist, and a high-energy beam composed of HK Particles instantly formed!
Xu Qi, upon seeing the Sazabi, also drew the beam saber from his waist!
The lightsabers collided in the dark passage! The sparks and beams that erupted illuminated their respective Exoskeleton Armors.
The scarlet Sazabi, the black and white V2V!
Author's Note on Launch
This is my first time writing a book on Dimension Damsels, and I'm quite happy to be launching it.
I didn't really plan on writing an author's note, but I guess I'll share some thoughts on this book.
Essentially, this book will still lean towards a slice-of-life direction, but it will feature a series of small stories, much like the events that unfold in this volume with Xia Ya.
Slice-of-life will be the main focus because I need it to develop the characters and then insert those well-developed characters into the story. So, don't worry, it won't be intense all the time.
I'm also searching, searching for a way to combine the slow-paced slice-of-life with the fast-paced plot.
Let's talk about the first volume.
The first volume mainly introduces the important characters, gives a general overview of the world, and establishes the protagonist Xu Qi's character.
The focus is still on Xu Qi, after all, he is the protagonist.
And the next volume, the focus will naturally be on the female lead. Hmm… want to guess who the female lead is? (Laughs)
In the next volume, the focus will undoubtedly be on the romance between Mei and Xu Qi, and then… we will introduce another heavyweight character in this book—Theresa.
Everyone can look forward to it a bit. Here are a few lines I've roughly drafted:
"I'm sorry I didn't meet you sooner. But now, I'm by your side."
"You've already done enough. Now, please leave Theresa to me."
The inspiration for Theresa's character comes from a friend of mine. He likes Theresa a lot, and I happen to like her too (although I like Mei the most).
Now that I've said this, everyone should realize that, after all, this is fanfiction, a secondary creation, and everyone has different interpretations of the characters.
I will process the characters in my writing according to my own ideas, trying my best not to be OOC, but if you want to say it doesn't match the original settings, I can only say—follow my book.
Finally, let's talk about… ahem… the lewd aspects. After all, this is a website that caters to anime fans (sounds like website discrimination, but it's not).
I personally hate it when the male and female leads are already naturally together but still act ambiguous.
Frankly, we're all men. In reality, I wouldn't date a girlfriend for a year and only hold hands and kiss, just playing around with ambiguity.
When I write, when the feelings are there, I'll do it, no dragging things out. Since it's a "natural progression," then the "progression" must happen.
I don't really like most romance light novels because—they're too slow.
A little ambiguity is fine, but if the plot has progressed to the middle and the male lead is still being ambiguous with so many female characters, I can't help but wonder if there's something wrong with his abilities in that area.
That's about it.
Thank you all for reading this, whether it's this book or this author's note.
I write purely out of interest, so I will finish this book seriously, regardless of whether it does well or not. I also hope everyone can support me.
37. This is the blessing that everyone at the Golden Courtyard has given me.
"The picture's here!"
Inside the Meilong Command Center, the once-black monitor screen finally flickered to life!
Of course, it wasn't that the Information Security Department had made some groundbreaking progress. In fact, these images weren't even obtained by the Mode Capital Metro. The source of this footage was…
"Please, everyone, pray for Xu Qi, pray for him, and for our fellow humans who are suffering on Train 956, pray that they can survive…"
It was a livestream, from a VTuber named Elysia.
A cute, pink-haired chibi avatar sat in the lower-left corner of the livestream, and the footage being broadcast was the battle between V2V and the Sazabi!
As for who discovered this livestream?
Why, it was everyone at the Golden Courtyard, of course… Even the computer connected to the hall was brought by Yae herself.
Mei watched the perilous battle unfold on the screen, her hands involuntarily clasped together. She recalled a conversation she had with Elysia – we can't let everything Xu Qi is doing go unnoticed…
We have to let everyone see what Xu Qi is doing!
Since we can't stop him, and we can't help him, then at least, let us pray for him.
"Is that all you've got, Xia Ya!"
The lightsaber's dance restricted the Sazabi's movements, and Xu Qi sent the Sazabi, which was half a head taller than V2V, flying with a kick!
However, after delivering that kick, Xu Qi clearly felt the heaviness and difficulty of lifting his leg for that split second.
This damn gravity!
