History

After the first major war between the Blood Race and the Demon Race, both sides signed the North-South Treaty. The treaty required the Demon Race to remain neutral in conflicts between humans and the Blood Race; this neutrality was the basic condition preventing a Blood Race attack on the Demon Realm. The following period brought major economic growth, especially in magical engineering, construction, investment, and trade. 576

The Blood Race later suspected the Demon Race of trying to upset this balance after reports emerged of humans disguising themselves as demons to infiltrate the Demon Realm and steal Demon Race knowledge. Such a scheme was initially considered implausible, since demons disguising themselves as humans was far more common. 65 541 803

A century before the Helrom Prison events, the Demon Race was defeated and its nine Great Demon Race Trials were dispersed. Several were rebuilt into Helrom Prison’s Negative Fourth through Sixth Floors, while most remaining sites were destroyed, lost, or placed beyond Demon Race control. 405

The old Pro-War Great Demon Race faction largely died in the war. At the time of the Ice Witch’s assessment, only seven Great Demon Race members were confirmed alive, predominantly survivors who had refused to participate in the conflict. 252

In the Bosen Kingdom, Demon Race knowledge contributed substantially to national development. Humans and demons now share some districts, and newborn demons can hold legal citizenship, though integration remains incomplete and racial unrest can still escalate into violence. 660 714

Ancestral Land and Royalty

The Demon Race Ancestral Land is a central source of Demon Realm power. Its Ancestor’s Soul, sealing arts, and supreme magic can serve as a final barrier against the Blood Race. 590

A deceased Demon King can integrate their remaining power and life soul into the Ancestral Land, strengthening its barrier. A Ninth Rank Great Demon Race member who dies in the Demon Realm may instead become a new Great Demon Race Trial. 608

After the Demon King died from wounds sustained in battle against the Blood Race’s Second Progenitor, no Nine-Imprint New King remained. Hughberlian, as the last surviving royal-blooded Demon Race member, became the only one capable of opening the Ancestral Land. 543

Traits and Culture

Demon Race Talent Magic

Demon Race Talent Magic is innate and cannot be replicated through ordinary study by other races. The unique Talent Magic of individual Great Demon Race members has been valuable enough for human powers to imprison them for more than a century rather than execute them. 397

• A Great Demon Race member who develops their Talent Magic to its ultimate form may gain abilities capable of threatening Blood Race immortality. 406
• The Blood Race therefore treats Great Demon Race members—especially Nameless Great Demon Race members—as opponents requiring exceptional caution. 406

Ancient Demon Race magical engineering is renowned for its creativity. Legend holds that humans first gained magic after the Demon Race taught it to them, making Demon Race knowledge closely tied to the origin of human magic. 735

Curses and Berserk States

Demon Race members can be driven into a super-berserk state by curses. A cursed Tier 4 Demon Race member was observed approaching Tier 5 strength, making high-ranking cursed demons a potentially catastrophic threat. 673

• Palroni’s Grudge Record, a damaged Rank 8 Red Legend magic device, can inflict such curses upon Demon Race members. 697

Social Attitudes

The Demon Race is not culturally uniform. Many demons act according to their desires and logic without hesitation or guilt over killing, making caution around them reasonable for weaker beings. Gentle, non-aggressive demons such as Talia and Antanas are described as a small minority shaped by the losses of war. 661

Demon Race interactions may shift abruptly: what appears to be friendly conversation can become lethal conflict in the next moment. 435

At the same time, broad prejudice against the race persists. Lanchi considers the world’s hostility toward demons disproportionate, while Hughberlian’s experiences as a Half-Demon Race reflect ostracism within human society. 84
