Hughberlian was born into a Duke's Family. Her mother is Ifatia, whose identity makes Hughberlian the Last Princess of the Demon Race; her father is Duke Migaiya. Talia, known to Hughberlian as Tata, raised her in Ifatia's absence. 252 572 842

She concealed her Half-Demon Race heritage while living in the Hutton Kingdom's Royal Capital, Ikelite. Fear and prejudice toward the Demon Race made her a target of hostility among fellow students, leaving her guarded around new people. 32 33

During an academy examination, Hughberlian partnered with Lanchi. Her fighting style initially centered on invisibility, bodily enhancement, and a scorpion-tail dagger; she created a decoy, turned invisible, and attacked Examiner Ferrat from concealment. 25 26 Lanchi's refusal to treat her differently gradually earned her trust despite her fear that he would reject her if he learned her heritage. 33

Journey to Aetherland

Hughberlian was separated from Lanchi after a shipwreck during their journey to the Northern Continent. After reaching the Aetherland Kingdom without valid identification, she evaded local guards and sought aid from the Goddess of Fate Church. The God Head Trio brought her to the Temple in Gedalia, where she met the Ice Witch. 251

The Ice Witch revealed Hughberlian's lineage, explained that seven Great Demon Race members had survived, and asked her to help rescue an imprisoned Great Demon Race member from the Protos Empire. Hughberlian accepted the task as both a personal responsibility and a duty to the Goddess of Fate. 252

Under the Ice Witch's instruction, she developed her stealth and escape techniques in preparation for the mission. The Ice Witch considered survival her most important skill, particularly because Hughberlian would ultimately have to operate alone in Helrom. 296

Protos Empire infiltration

Earl Milford arranged Hughberlian's Protos identity as Milian Milford, his deceased elder brother's purported illegitimate daughter. This cover allowed her to transfer to the Protos Royal Magic Academy and pursue the credits needed for a Helrom Prison internship. 341

She entered Milford Territory disguised as a merchant's daughter, accompanied by three Tier 6 clerics, then traveled with Mishura toward Helrom. Though she maintained her disguise successfully, she remained concerned about the Nirvana Branch and about finding Lanchi, then publicly known as Luo Qi McCarthy. 340 362 373

After seeing Lanchi's political interview broadcast in Helrom, Hughberlian sought him out despite being overwhelmed by the crowd. When her response to an interviewer threatened to turn the crowd against her, Lanchi reframed her words publicly and defused the situation. 378 379 380

Helrom Prison and the Great Demon Race

As a prison intern, Hughberlian led Lanchi—operating through the Poet of Great Love—and allied clerics into Helrom Prison. She accepted Warden Colendan's reprimand over protocol and adapted to the prison's strict rules. 397 398

The operation brought her into contact with imprisoned Great Demon Race members, including Antanas. It also revealed that Talia was not merely her guardian, but her aunt. 413 418

Demon Realm and Allied Forces work

Hughberlian later spent time in Demon King City Nekaris as a Half-Demon princess. There, Lisandra acted as her companion, while Kali Yella protected her in a way Hughberlian found both caring and restrictive. 572 580
