Background / History

Chen Fusheng has no memory of his birth or early origins. As a small child, he crawled from a snowdrift in a frozen wasteland and later collapsed from cold and hunger. Old Huang found him, brought him home, gave him the name Chen Fusheng, and raised him for ten years. 1

At fourteen, Chen tested at zero mental power and was told he would remain a mortal for life. He nevertheless worked as a woodcutter for outer sect disciples to pay for Old Huang’s medicine. His life changed when he cultivated the Furnace Contemplation Method, a technique given by his adoptive grandfather, and entered the Star Guiding Realm. 1

Old Huang revealed that the Furnace Contemplation Method relies on the physical body rather than spiritual power and originated with an Ancient Prodigy who likewise lacked spiritual power. The method is forbidden; exposure to the Star Palace Enforcers would mean death. Chen therefore continued cultivating in secret, using the beast carvings of the Star Chart Heavenly Pillar to activate posture diagrams. 2

His later investigations established that he is descended from the Qiren bloodline and bears a connection to the ancient Chen Family. Chen concluded that the Qiren destroyed his face, extracted his bloodline, and left him the Star Chart to conceal him. 687
