When the black droplet fell just now, it had displayed a scene of lightning. This meant it had implanted Gaia with a fear of lightning—or perhaps thunder.
But that was not why it was an Omega-class threat.
The reason it had such a high threat level was that its range of effect would grow with time.
Its radius of influence doubled every three hundred days.
This range was an objective measurement. Changing the definitions of meters or seconds would be useless.
Fifteen years ago, it had to touch someone to implant fear. At that time, its range of effect had only been one millimeter.
Now, its radius was 262,144 times what it had been fifteen years ago.
No explanation was necessary. Its exponential growth already made its threat clear. In another nine months, its fear radius would be 524 meters.
In another twelve years, that radius would reach more than 8,500 kilometers—2,000 kilometers greater than Earth's radius.

A similar Contained Object was the Beta-class Proliferating Wax Figure, but the wax figure could be destroyed, causing it to start over from scratch.
