The volume wrapped up with a bang—twenty-three chapters and fifty thousand words in total. That brings Volume One to an end.
As a newcomer writing my first book, I spent half a month experiencing everything from not knowing how to submit a manuscript, to having my submission rejected, to self-publishing without a contract, along with all sorts of brain-dead moves. Fortunately, the forty-thousand-word manuscript was finally picked up. I'd like to thank my editor here.
I'd also like to thank the readers who left comments on the very first day the book was published. Thanks to you, I didn't end up like the many newcomers on Tieba who were beaten down by having no readers until they shut themselves away--
I won't say much more about my personal thoughts. Let's get back to the first volume, which didn't have many chapters to begin with. I actually wanted to write more about this volume, but there really wasn't much to say about the era of Uranus. In the records of Greek Mythology, the first two God Kings were both glossed over in just a few strokes, so I had no choice but to cover it in around twenty chapters.
Sky Father has been hung up in the sky, and he won't have a role to play for at least two eras. Whether he'll appear again in the future depends on the circumstances. If he does, it will definitely be a long time from now, and probably in a way nobody expects. Then he'll continue his loving and murderous rivalry with his children.
Next comes the Second Volume: the era of Cronus.
I'll write more about Cronus. After all, although he isn't as famous as Zeus, he did do quite a lot, and his eventual fate will also be easier to develop. He's more or less guaranteed to get a chance at resurrection, but that won't happen until at least a hundred chapters later.
This volume will probably cover the birth of the First Humans, the descent of the Second Generation Titans, conflicts between the various divine factions, and so on. There's still quite a bit to write about. At least it won't be like the First Era, where there wasn't much of a story, the protagonist was still weak, and he could only act as a spectator and a behind-the-scenes instigator.
I'll also say something about the volume titles. The title of Volume One is "Genesis." It's because Khaos has just opened up the world, because Ryan is going to create the spirit world, and even more because I adapted some content from the "Genesis" of the Bible. Of course, as my first contracted book, it also has a lot of commemorative significance.
As for the Second Volume, I named it "Reincarnation." I know some people will definitely say that this means the protagonist is going to establish reincarnation or something, since that sort of plot device has been done to death. But actually, that really isn't why I chose the name—or at least, it isn't the main reason.
As for the actual content, considering that there's only so much material in mythology, and that the further things progress, the more they lean toward "humans," I'll try to make arrangements early on so there will be more to write about later, rather than having nothing but the protagonist, Zeus, and a bunch of dispensable Passerby As.
Besides, assuming nothing unexpected happens, by the time Zeus becomes God King, the protagonist will have messed up the original mythological trajectory almost beyond recognition. How much of it will still follow the original, I can't say yet. I'll decide when the time comes.
