The reason this never happened in the original story was that God Itachi had been ravaged by illness and died young. If those three overpowered monsters had appeared ten years earlier and encountered a healthy, full-strength Itachi, then... then it probably still wouldn't have worked, since Itachi had only been ten at the time.
