Soren looked at the lingering unease in the ancient red dragon's eyes, then slowly said, "I also need some dragon blood."

At Soren's request, the ancient red dragon unhesitatingly sliced open its foreleg with its incredibly sharp claws. Dragon blood gushed out, and it gathered the blood with a spell before respectfully presenting it to Soren. After offering up a large quantity of dragon blood with both hands, the ancient red dragon actually looked much more relaxed.
After all, paying in blood was only natural after offending an evil god.
It had just offered compensation, but that had been its own choice. Whether the evil god was satisfied was another matter. Soren asking for dragon blood meant he was willing to let the ancient red dragon go.
Offer up treasure, then offer up dragon blood.
To the ancient red dragon, Soren's demands were reasonable and entirely fitting for an evil god, and it secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
For an ancient red dragon weighing over fifty tons, a little dragon blood was nothing. The price of angering an evil god with medium divinity, on the other hand, was more than it could bear.
Soren put away the dragon blood with a wave of his hand.
This was not yet the time to kill an ancient red dragon. Soren was ninety percent confident he could defeat it, but he was not completely certain he could prevent it from escaping. Dragons could fly, and even a true god might not be able to stop one in the sky. Soren had sealed off teleportation spells, but he could not seal its ability to fly. If he attacked and let it escape, he naturally had nothing to fear himself.
