The high-tier demons under Soran's command even felt as though they were fighting an Elite Devil Legion. The meat grinder before them almost made them believe they were on a battlefield of the Blood War of the Abyss.
Yet not a single demon retreated, for madness, greed, and bloodlust had consumed them. Every demon knew what taking this place meant. It meant that the Balor Lord, Soran, would become a powerful new Demon Lord of the Abyss, perhaps even replacing one of its great powers. Their own status as high-tier demons would rise along with his. Once a Demon Lord occupied multiple layers of the Abyss, one of his most common acts was to appoint Lesser Demon Lords. For the vast majority of demons, this was an opportunity that came only once in a century.
That was how the Abyss worked.
Every Lesser Demon Lord rose over mountains of corpses, and with so many layers already claimed, opportunities for new Lesser Demon Lords to emerge were exceedingly rare.
Demons fell one after another.
Undead were torn apart one after another.
The battle lasted an entire day. When the undead before them finally began to thin out, Soran brought out his last trump card.

A group of demon worshippers who served the Lord of Shadows gathered.
Many demons in the Abyss followed and worshipped evil gods. Both the Spider Queen and the Goddess of Misfortune had considerable numbers of demon worshippers. Unlike ordinary demons, these worshippers were subject to certain restraints, and their natures would gradually shift toward the domains of the deities they worshipped.
An enormous altar had been completed.
The demon worshippers were primarily succubi, mezzoloths, and glbrezu. They performed a grand Blood Sacrifice ritual, and a dark red gateway
