What a Small World!
A lot actually happened in that instant.
Vivian made a very small noise as she approached, but she was still spotted by the mixed-race Yuan-ti. Yuan-ti possess a Racial Feat called [Serpentine Perception], and their average attributes are about 6 points higher than those of ordinary humans after reaching adulthood. They are a race with strong innate abilities, but their growth rate is relatively slow; their lifespan can sometimes reach that of Elven Race. The little girl was frightened by the Yuan-ti's appearance and turned to run, but they still managed to catch up.
Vivian had little combat experience. Although Goria had taught her a lot, the girl still panicked when a real battle broke out and instinctively used her best Spell.
Magic Missile, level 1!
This is a very useful low-level Spell; it has a fast casting speed and decent damage.
Vivian's Magic Missile can be cast instantly because she is a Spell Prodigy; all Spell cast within a second can be instantaneous. However, unlike her previous casting, Vivian's Magic Missile now appear simultaneously with five missiles. This 1st-level Spell gains one more Magic Missile every two spellcasting levels, up to a maximum of five Magic Missile at class level 9. This means that Vivian, for some reason, suddenly increased her class level to over 9.
One Spell consists of 5 Magic Missile.
So how many Magic Missile did Vivian actually remember?
Her profession is Wizard and Sorcerer, and their Spell Slot are calculated separately. Even without considering attribute bonuses, based on a level 9 Wizard and level 9 Sorcerer, Vivian can cast at least 12 1st-level Spell. Wizard cannot cast spells without memorizing Spell Slot beforehand, but Sorcerer gain additional spellcasting attempts as their profession level increases. This is because Sorcerer' spellcasting is calculated by the number of attempts; they can use any Spell they have mastered, but the total number of attempts remains the same.
The little girl was clearly frightened.
So she instinctively threw out all the Magic Missile, each instant cast releasing 5 Magic Missile, resulting in more than 60 Magic Missile being fired in an instant!
What does this mean?
Even if Soren stood in front of her, he would be instantly killed by the overwhelming Magic Missile.
Furthermore, this does not take into account the penetration bonus brought by Spell energy.
Magic Missile cast by high-level Wizard can penetrate thin iron plates. Vivian's Magic Missile were similar, directly shattering the armor of the hybrid Yuan-ti before her. The sudden appearance of a large Magic Missile instantly killed the four hybrid Yuan-ti. Even their racial [Faint Spell Resistance] was completely useless; they were shot to death at close range before they could even Dodge, their corpses already riddled with holes.
About a second.
Vivian killed five hybrid Yuan-ti, all of whom were around level five in their class.
The last remaining female Yuan-ti was almost paralyzed with fear!
When she saw her companion's mangled corpse and looked at Vivian again, her eyes were filled with terror. Although the girl before her looked so beautiful and had an innocent, adorable appearance, she seemed to her to be something utterly terrifying!
It was a fear that came from the depths of the soul.
Fear had almost completely enveloped her, rendering her utterly devoid of any will to resist.
"Fear Aura [Divinity Domain]: All living beings within a 100-foot radius of the user must undergo a forced will test, or they will be trapped in fear from which they cannot escape. Any living being that has even the slightest thought of fear within the Fear Aura must undergo another will test with Saving Throw difficulty of +1. If the user fails to pass the will test, the target will be affected by Spell similar to the Cause Fear."
This is Vivian's Godsbane domain. Compared to it, Soren's ' Fear Gaze ' is only good for intimidating Commoner.
The little girl seemed a bit frightened as well.
She herself hadn't expected to kill so many enemies at once; in fact, it was purely an instinctive reaction, as she had never experienced real combat. However, the bloody scene before her didn't panic her. Vivian had grown up in the most chaotic Slums, where gang fights often resulted in severe injuries, and her childhood experiences made her more accustomed to such situations. What did, however, leave her somewhat bewildered was the trembling woman kneeling on the ground. Before she could even fully comprehend what was happening, the woman was already calling her "master."
But she wasn't without options. She strained her face, mimicking the tone of [The Fear Witch] Lillian, and said condescendingly, "Raise your head!... Are you truly willing to serve me forever?... Dedicate your Hit Points and soul to me!..."
"I'm willing!" The female Yuan-ti in front of her was terrified and nodded almost repeatedly.
Vivian tried to keep a straight face and said in a slightly childish voice, "Very well. From today onwards, you are my servant. When you prove your loyalty, I will bestow upon you the rewards you deserve."
Time seemed to stand still for a moment.
As Vivian uttered those words, an invisible Spell Aura appeared. The fear on the female Yuan-ti's face began to fade, her expression blank and her gaze vacant. She remained stunned for a long while, as if a woman had been broken, before gradually regaining her senses. She knelt humbly on the ground, bending down to kiss Vivian's shoes, murmuring, "Master! Your servant is forever loyal to you!..."
The scene was absolutely incredible.
It looks as if some cult of Evil God gods were performing a corrupt ritual, and then a blasphemous priest used Blasphemy to subtly Telepathic Suggestion all the believers.
Vivian swayed slightly, as if she felt a little tired.
Faintly, she seemed to hear a pesky voice, as if it were that idiot who called himself ' Lillian,' gloating. "Haha!... So you get weak from overusing your power!... You moron and idiot!... Let me out now!...!"
Vivian shook her head, seemingly trying to shake off the annoying voice, and muttered, "You're the idiot!... You're acting so crazy!... I'm not letting you out!..."
I don't know why.
After learning of Lillian's existence, who called herself the ' Fear Witch ', Vivian was not as repulsed by her as she had imagined.
Because she knew everything about Vivian, it seemed as if she was present in everything Vivian had experienced since she could remember, like another version of herself, or perhaps a twin sister who didn't even exist. Vivian was actually a very kind girl; as long as it didn't involve her brother, she was inherently kind and friendly. But if things involved her brother, then no matter who was right or wrong, she would definitely stand on his side.
Kindness and Justice are not important to her; the world she sees is supported by her brother, so her brother is more important than anything else.
She didn't particularly like Lillian, but she didn't dislike her either.
Perhaps subconsciously she also felt that hating her was like hating herself, because their memories were shared, except that Lillian seemed to be born with the ability to control the power of the Fear God Child.
She is Vivian, representing mortals; she is Lillian, the true representative of the Fear God Child.
If Soren hadn't appeared, or if the original Soren had truly died, given the girl's deep affection for Soren, she might very well have completely given up on herself and followed Soren to her death after the fear descended! Her brother was her everything in her young heart, her only family in the world, who had supported her with his blood and sweat. Soren's death could very well have made her give up hope of living, because during her first period of deep sleep and struggle against fear, it was precisely because she believed her brother would come to save her that she was able to endure for so long!
She wasn't very strong; in fact, she was a bit timid.
But as long as Soren is alive, she will not give up hope, because her brother is her hope.
She believed in Soren.
I believe that no matter what the circumstances, Soren will always stand by her side and protect her!
This was her will.
As long as Soren lives, her will will never break.
Vivian is Vivian.
Lillian is Lillian.
If it weren't for Soren's arrival, Vivian would probably have died in Amber City, and the Fear Witch, Lillian, would have survived.
The Lillian of that time was probably not the Lillian of today.
Glacier City.
Soren saw the tower in the distance; it was Goria's Wizard Tower.
This is a relatively prosperous city; the people here are quite wealthy, and their faces don't appear sallow or thin. The City Lord of Glacier City is actually an official, not a hereditary title, but an administrator elected by the city council every ten years. The true ruler here is the Northern Witch, also known as Goria in the Wizard Tower; the City Lord is merely her representative. This is because the Witch doesn't have the energy to manage too many trivial matters.
The city is not very big, but there are many shops and a lot of Trade caravans coming and going.
Soren didn't linger in the city for long. After eating something, he headed towards the Wizard Tower. It was a special territory that was rarely visited, as disturbing the Northern Witch was taboo. Even Glacier City only sent over a city income and expenditure report each year and then handled some matters according to the requirements of the Northern Witch' administrators.
Soren approached the vicinity of the Wizard Tower.
However, just as he was about to enter, a disheveled figure suddenly appeared nearby, but it was a very familiar, alluring woman.
When she noticed Soren's presence, she immediately gritted her teeth in hatred, because she was Goria's mother!
This is truly a case of enemies meeting on a narrow road. (To be continued~^~)
