Versatile Hands
Wizard Tower.
The alluring woman glared angrily at Soren, Soren remained calm as he continued ascending the Wizard Tower. Since Goria already knew they were coming, she naturally wouldn't allow her mother to attack him. Besides, with Soren's current strength, even if he couldn't defeat the alluring woman before him, escaping wouldn't be difficult. It was clear that Goria and her mother had a strained relationship, likely due to the unique nature of the Northern Witch; they probably didn't spend much time together.
This is perfectly normal.
Many Wizard, because they are so focused on their Spell research, tend to be estranged from their children.
For Wizard who often Hit Points for hundreds of years, their attitude towards their children is very similar to that of Elf. Elven Race are notoriously detached from family ties, and most Elven Race families only have children living together for a short period during infancy. After that, they generally live separately, and even spouses may live apart for extended periods. This is especially true for those with greater power, as they generally do not need to raise their children themselves. Royal Family are slightly better in this respect, at least in terms of having children living together for extended periods during infancy.
Although Goria never mentioned it, judging from the alluring woman's personality, Soren knew she wouldn't be a good mother.
The alluring woman's face stiffened, seemingly wanting nothing more than to kill Soren before her. However, she was unsure just how much Soren's strength had improved. That he was now qualified to fight her in such a short time was undoubtedly shocking, and a sense of apprehension crept into her heart.
She had some doubts that Soren was the Godsbane.
Because apart from the Godsbane, she couldn't think of anyone else who could rapidly advance to the third rank of Rogue in just one month.
And he seemed more dangerous than the other Rogue.
The top of the Wizard Tower was quite spacious. When Soren saw Goria standing alone before him, his expression immediately turned grim. It seemed Vivian was truly in trouble. Soren's gaze fell on Goria; her face was slightly pale, and a strand of silver-white hair had appeared in her smooth, long hair. This change startled him, and he exclaimed, "Your hair? What happened?"
Goria glanced indifferently behind him, then said, "Mother, I think you must be tired too. I've heard some things. You can stay here for a while, but it's best to leave as soon as possible. Because you've violated the Witches' Council's Banishment punishment. If Eye of the North finds out, he might Banishment you permanently."
"Perhaps you should take a good rest and then think about how to deal with those druids."
The alluring woman had already been Banishment, but she had escaped punishment, and the Witches' Council no longer had the power to protect her.
Goria, as her daughter, could temporarily offer her protection out of familial affection, but she couldn't let her stay here indefinitely, because sooner or later the Witches' Council would find out, and the druids wouldn't let it go so easily.
The glamorous woman's face was grim. She glanced at her daughter, her expression complex, and murmured, "Alright."
After saying that, she turned and left the room, her face darkening as she walked out the door.
In fact.
She was almost at her wit's end.
Because of her past forbidden experiments, she ended up in the top three of the Druids' blacklist, and the Witches' Council went to great lengths to temporarily appease them. She had initially thought she could quickly unlock the secrets of the Fate Card and become Legendary Witch. But in reality, she couldn't even activate the card's power. Her former Wizard Tower and Laboratory had been reclaimed by the Witches' Council, and some important Spell devices had been sealed away. The Druids were likely waiting there for her to walk into their Web. Wizard, relying solely on their limited Spell Slot, ultimately couldn't fight off too many enemies.
Before leaving the room, she glanced at Soren, seemingly deep in thought.
After the alluring woman left the room, Goria sighed softly and said slowly, "Mother escaped punishment. This angered the Witches' Council, and some suggested permanently imprisoning her. Even I couldn't change that."
She didn't seem to want to elaborate. Turning to look at Soren, she said softly, "I'm sorry. I couldn't take good care of Vivian. Some unexpected things happened these past few days that I couldn't help with."
If something could leave a high-ranking Northern Witch helpless, it must be something Legendary.
Soren took a deep breath and said in a low voice, "What happened?"
Goria raised a hand to brush aside her long hair, a few strands of which were silver. She gazed at Soren with a complex expression, sensing his rapid increase in power. She slowly said, "Someone infiltrated my Wizard Tower. It was an Assassin of Legendary or higher, likely the legendary Hand of Despair. I was no match for him, but unexpectedly, Vivian suddenly awakened. She not only saved me but also killed that Legendary Assassin."
"However, she calls herself Lillian. The Fear Witch - Lillian!..."
Soren shuddered.
His expression instantly turned grim, and he said in a deep voice, "Lillian!? The Fear Witch - Lillian!?"
A series of memories surfaced in his mind.
In Amber City, before the Time of Troubles began, the first Fear God Child awakened: the Fear Witch, Lillian. She was the most powerful Godsbane of the Demon Lord of Fear and the final vessel to resurrect Demon Lord of Fear. This Godsbane possessed innate power greater than other Fear Bodies. The Demon Lord of Fear left behind only a few dozen offspring, and his Greater Divinity was distributed among them. Lillian killed the vast majority of these Godsbane Godsbane Fear Witch, but ultimately angered the Lady of Silver Moon, and was killed in a battle by the Lady of Silver Moon, who had descended as Avatar.
History has been changed.
But when Soren heard the name, especially when Vivian uttered it, his spirits sank.
Is Vivian the same as Lillian?
Wrong!
Vivian is Vivian, how could she be Lillian!
Lillian's consciousness must be controlled by the Demon Lord of Fear. The personality of the Fear God Child is prone to change after awakening, which is because the Demon God Will has influenced her!
No! We have to find Vivian!
If Vivian kills the other Fear God Child, her Divinity will grow stronger, and her Demon God Will will also become stronger. At that point, she might truly become the Fear Witch – Lillian!
Although Soren was extremely anxious, he did not act rashly, because he didn't even know where Vivian was.
He inquired about everything in detail, and then fell into deep thought.
Legendary were appearing more and more frequently, but the name [Hand of Despair] reminded him of something; he seemed to have fought this Legendary Assassin before. The location should be in the Shadow Plane, and the opponent was Rogue Legendary Hit Points into a shadow form. Killing him was as difficult as dealing with Lich. Although Soren had teamed up with others to kill him once, it hadn't completely ended him. This guy's soul resided somewhere in the Shadow Plane; at most, his soul couldn't be imprisoned, and his physical body could only be destroyed.
Soren looked up at Goria in front of him, his expression hesitant, and asked, "Can we use Divination to determine Vivian's location?"
Goria pondered for a moment.
She unconsciously raised her hand and gently stroked her long hair, her fair fingertips picking up a strand of silver hair, then slowly said, "Okay. But I need to prepare a bit."
Using Divination to locate the Godsbane comes at a high price.
A look of gratitude appeared in Soren's eyes. He gently bowed his head and said slowly, "No matter what, I am very grateful to you. I will definitely repay you for everything you have done today!"
Goria gently shook her head, her expression somewhat complicated, and said softly, "I also like Vivian very much. I see my past self in her."
As if she had seen something, she frowned slightly. Looking at Soren's sword, she asked in confusion, "Icetail?!"
Does she recognize this Scimitar?
Soren nodded slightly and replied, "Yes. A weapon I obtained in the Land of Ice and Snow. Do you recognize it?"
"Yes." Goria slowly walked over, reaching out to touch the Scimitar. But suddenly, she seemed to sense something; her fingers trembled involuntarily, and she withdrew her hand as if electrocuted, shivering as if from the cold. Goria's expression was incredulous as she murmured, "Just as the legends say! Only its chosen master can touch it!"
"But."
"Why can you use this Scimitar? It seems only kind people can wield it!"
Is there Alignment requirement?
Soren's expression was quite surprised. He raised his hand and drew the Icetail. In his palm, the Legendary Scimitar emitted a faint white light. He seemed to feel nothing unusual and could use it freely.
"That's impossible!"
Goria looked very puzzled and murmured, "You don't seem to be someone who firmly believes in kindness, do you?"
Could it be?
Soren seemed to remember something. His expression was somewhat incredulous as he quickly opened his profile.
--Versatile Hands [Legendary Skill] (Soul Weakness)!
It remains unusable.
Soren extended a finger and gently stroked the Scimitar in his hand. He felt no resistance whatsoever. If the Legendary Scimitar in his hand truly had Alignment requirement, then the only possibility that he could still use it was that although his Versatile Hands were still sealed, they had already taken effect.
There are some special Legendary Equipment in this world.
Using them requires meeting specific requirements; otherwise, they may not be effective and could even harm you.
Most of the Northern Witch believed in the principle of Neutral, so Goria trembled slightly when she touched it.
Because she felt the biting cold.
If the Alignment Shift too drastically, one might even be harmed by the energy emanating from a weapon. For example, creatures of the Evil Alignment could be injured by Legendary Item that have a need for good. Such weapons often possess a trace of spirituality and have undoubtedly undergone a long period of time, perhaps because their past owners slew too many Evil beings, or perhaps because they were imbued with some special Spell. There are many weapons in the Underdark and the Abyss that can only be used by those of the Evil Alignment.
If the Versatile Hands hadn't worked, Soren should have Cold Damage when he touched it.
These Legendary Item are not uncommon; the most iconic examples are Paladin weapons. Their Legendary weapons are always imbued with holy power, and if too many Evil creatures are killed, they may even generate an automatic Alignment requirement for their use. Some of these weapons will even awaken a spiritual consciousness (panconsciousness), automatically attacking enemies upon detecting Evil targets, much like the Level 7 Spell ' Mordenkainen's Sword '!
