Blowgun +3
Facing the last enemy.
Soren showed no hesitation, his twin blades flashing with a cold light, each strike aimed precisely at his opponent's vital points. He had no need for prisoners or to extract any information from the natives before him. Since Soren intended to investigate the enemy himself, there was no need to extract information from the captives, especially since the two sides couldn't communicate verbally.
Thump!
A spurt of blood gushed out.
Soren plunged his blade into the abdomen of the thin native before him, then with a swift flick of his wrist, ripped open the belly, and finally cleaved off the head with a horizontal slash of his right hand. Since mastering the Sword Momentum: Decapitation, Soren had grown increasingly fond of Decapitation Attack; once the head was severed, the enemy was practically dead, but if the blow landed elsewhere, the enemy could survive for a while. Of course, this might also be related to the latent violent tendencies within him; as a Rogue, he actually possessed the blood of Berserker.
A row of documents appeared.
Soren glanced at the list and realized that the enemy was giving him quite a lot of Slaughter Experience!
The lower classes of the indigenous people are similar to ordinary people, but the Warrior class is very powerful. Their tasks are hunting and fighting, which are basically ways to gain experience and hone their strength. Ordinary labor is mostly done by the lower-class indigenous people. All five enemies are professionals of level three or above. Since there are no Spellcaster among them, the Slaughter Experience given is similar to that of Wilderness Monster of the same level, giving Soren a total of 21,500 Slaughter Experience points.
This certainly looks like an elite force!
By taking down about twenty of these enemies, Soren could easily level up his class.
"Surprise attacks are definitely more suitable for me!"
Soren's easy victory hinged on two key factors. First, his Backstab caught his opponent off guard, allowing him to quickly amplify his gains. Second, the Stoneskin protected him from the enemy's Blowgun, as even with his Superhuman Constitution (over 20 points), Soren wasn't entirely confident he could withstand the poison on those Blowgun. It must be acknowledged that these natives possessed considerable skill in Poisonmaking, some even surpassing the Alchemy of the continent.
Spellcaster are rare among the indigenous people.
However, the possibility of special beings possessing Psionics cannot be ruled out. There are basically no Wizard here, only Sorcerer and Shaman Priest.
Shaman Priest belong to another level of priests, with significant differences in their Spell. Since there are no true Deity in the Overseas Islands, Shaman Priest Spell tend to be more elemental, that is, Evocation Divine Magic attacks. Totem are more common in areas where Shaman Priest is prevalent, and there are also ancient Shamanic Doctrine that simply worship the Ancestor Spirit.
Studies show that the higher the level of civilization and the greater the prevalence of literacy education in a place, the higher the likelihood of encountering Spellcaster!
Soren began to collect the spoils of war.
The natives had virtually no valuables, and Soren wasn't looking for gold or jewels.
He rummaged through a pile of native corpses and quickly found six Blowgun and a small vial of some unknown potion containing Steel Needle.
Soren tried to identify the item, and upon seeing its attributes, he broke out in a cold sweat!
Item type: Blowgun [+3]
Item Level: [Tier 3 Transcendent Item]
Item Description: This is a very special Blowgun, originating from the scouts of the indigenous people of Overseas Islands. Over thousands of years, while the indigenous people's history didn't bring them civilization and wisdom, it did allow them to develop some unique skills. This Blowgun is coated with a refined and purified Nerve Toxin that takes effect upon striking an enemy and triggering the blink of an eye. The dosage from one Blowgun can paralyze an elephant in a short time. Very few humans can Saving Throw resist it.
Equipment requirements: None.
Effects: Deals 5-10 points of poison damage to the target, then triggers a mandatory anesthetic poison check with Saving Throw difficulty of 20 upon hitting the target. Any target that cannot pass through will be rendered unconscious for a short time.
Holy crap!
It's actually a Tier 3 Supernatural Item?
Upon seeing the information on the items, Soren was immediately terrified, realizing his chances of Saving Throw were less than 50%. Luckily, he had activated Stoneskin beforehand; otherwise, he might have been caught off guard. Soren glanced at the items briefly before putting away the Blowgun, Steel Needle, and potions. He then looked down at the captured pirate scout, who was barely breathing, his tendons severed, making his survival virtually impossible.
Unless a high-ranking priest casts Greater Restoration on him, even if he is barely saved, he will be paralyzed.
The key issue is that there are no priests at the camp.
"I've avenged you!"
Soren walked over expressionlessly, took his hand, and said in a deep voice, "Let me relieve your pain."
A cold glint appeared.
He relieved the pirate, who was clearly on the verge of death, from his pain, and then slowly closed his eyes. This was a situation that had to be addressed; often after a battle, the wounded needed others to relieve their suffering. Priests were a minority, and their incredibly expensive Divine Magic was difficult to popularize; otherwise, the conflicts Strife in various regions would certainly not be this severe.
Soren slowly stood up and coldly glanced at the native Slave he had just killed with a single blow.
If this guy hadn't run away, the natives probably wouldn't have discovered them so quickly.
Bang!
Soren stomped on the head of a native Slave, then walked out of the cave. Killing these scouts was only the first step. Since Soren intended to take action against the natives, he naturally had no pity in his heart.
Under the pitch-black night.
Soren moved swiftly through the jungle. The night provided perfect camouflage, and with the added benefit of [Darkvision], Soren was even Drow than a typical Drow. Some nocturnal predators began to appear, but Soren carefully avoided them. Around him were plants emitting an eerie glow; any flying insects that approached would be instantly devoured. The Overseas Islands had a considerable number of various types of Carnivorous Plant, so even animals wouldn't easily venture into certain areas.
The sound of River Goddess could be heard ahead.
Soren moved quickly. The island wasn't very large, only about fifty kilometers long, narrow at both ends and wider in the middle. Inside was a vast primeval jungle, with a River Goddess flowing from another island. The River Goddess was about fifty meters wide, and on the surface, it seemed unremarkable. However, things were different once one entered it. Soren had no interest in the Piranha, even though they provided about two points of Slaughter Experience.
Signs of human activity ahead are becoming increasingly apparent.
Soren even saw discarded, broken fishing nets by the river. The natives' food source wasn't solely hunting; they also knew how to farm, although the arable land here was limited. Soren's figure gradually blended into the darkness as he followed a muddy path that was clearly frequently used, soon reaching cultivated land. There were no crops in the land now, but piles of what appeared to be corn and sorghum stalks lay beside the Farmland.
The light of torches could be seen in the distance, and faint human voices could be heard.
Soren first made sure there were no sentries nearby before gradually approaching. He couldn't be sure if the natives here had any special abilities, so he didn't get too close.
Before us lay a simple village!
Judging from the number of houses, the population is approximately 1,500. The indigenous population is relatively densely distributed because their small numbers and individual populations cannot survive on the Overseas Islands. The outermost layer consists of lower-class indigenous people living in low shacks, creating a very chaotic scene. In the center, there is a cluster of tall buildings, with torches and Guard visible in the distance. The indigenous people live in a tribal system, similar to some African tribes where a man may have over a hundred wives working together. The internal social hierarchy is strict and the differences between the members are quite significant.
Soren glanced at it briefly, then quietly slipped inside!
