Adult Dragon
As the distance gradually closes.
Soren's footsteps grew lighter and slower. Dragon possessed excellent Listen, and even with Soren's high agility bonus, it was still possible for the dragon to detect his Stealth infiltration. Fortunately, the White Dragon before him was white, lacking high-level Spell and possessing only some Spell-like Ability; otherwise, Soren would have had to be wary of Spell Trap if Stealth in. Once Dragon Nest evolved into Maze over time, it would inevitably contain numerous traps and mechanisms.
The adult Dragon before us appears to be asleep, but that doesn't mean it's oblivious to its surroundings.
The Dragon's slumber is a crucial process in its Hit Points. While asleep, it retains about 50% of its basic abilities, including the ability to detect approaching creatures or even slightly heavy footsteps. During this state, the Dragon's abilities gradually increase, and its wounds heal at an accelerated pace, requiring it to consume large quantities of prey beforehand. The Adult White Dragon Soren observed was healing its wounds, as he noticed a 30-centimeter-long, nearly 5-centimeter-deep wound on White Dragon left Dragon Wing, seemingly inflicted by a Two-Handed Greatsword.
This will affect the White Dragon's flying ability!
Then there's another wound on the White Dragon's throat, covered in tiny, fine scales. What appears to be a fragile defense is actually the most resilient part of Dragon's body, difficult for ordinary weapons to penetrate. It must have been attacked with Longsword or Rapier. The wound is relatively small but appears deep, suggesting that whoever attacked it possessed a Dragon Slayer -slaying weapon. When dealing with any pure-blooded Dragon, you can imagine it as being mostly covered in Full Plate Armor armor.
In the anecdotes of Bard, Dragon always seem to have a spot called the "reverse scale," which is the Dragon's fatal weakness. If you hit this spot, you can kill the Dragon even if you don't damage its heart.
But in fact, Dragon do not have reverse scales.
They have weak points in their defenses, but absolutely no fatal weakness. It's unclear when this started, but it's a common saying in Bard ' tales, and many people have come to believe it. This has led many naive Adventurer to think that finding the weakness would make Dragon Slayer easy, since that's how the stories always go: the hero strikes the Dragon's vital point and kills the terrifying creature instantly.
"Defense strength must be at least 25!"
Soren closed the distance to about twenty meters, observing the Adult White Dragon's body, mainly the color, thickness, and distribution of its scales. Based on his extensive experience, Soren could determine that the adult Dragon possessed a defense level of around 25 points, meaning that the Dragon Scale and Dragon Hide covering its body could defend against physical attacks of approximately 25 points in strength.
This level of defense is equivalent to an adult male gripping a weapon with both hands and delivering a powerful, all-out attack.
In other words
A fully powered strike from a grown man wielding two weapons might only barely break through the Dragon's defenses.
It's just enough to break through the defense; the damage is estimated to be less than 3 points!
Soren's expression was quite serious as he Stealth from the other side, thinking to himself, "With the elite pirates I brought, breaking through its Dragon Scale defense shouldn't be a problem. However, without a critical hit, the damage will probably only be in the single digits."
This is not a good thing.
It's not easy for Soren to kill a fully grown Dragon by dealing damage alone.
By going around the side of the Dragon Nest, Soren could see a pile of treasure. Because the amount wasn't very large, it was directly covered by the Dragon's massive body. As the weakest of the Chromatic Dragon, the White Dragon, although it had accumulated wealth to Adult and had double to triple the standard loot, its treasure still didn't seem as extravagant as that of the Red Dragon.
Because the Red Dragon is the most powerful of the Chromatic Dragon, and also the most Evil Dragon that loves to collect trophies.
but.
Soren saw some small things that shimmered and reflected light before his eyes.
Those are Diamond!
White Dragon are the most Diamond- loving of all Dragon. Once they find Diamond, they will always try to possess them, unless the act is extremely dangerous. Of all gems, White Dragon favor Diamond the most, so almost any Adult White Dragon's lair will contain some quite conspicuous Diamond. Therefore, what may not seem like a large treasure trove from White Dragon often hides a considerable amount of spoils, the key being the quantity of Diamond.
After all, this thing can sell for a very high price even if it only costs one piece!
There wasn't much gold inside the Dragon Nest.
Because of its proximity to the sea, Soren saw very little gold dust and Gold Daler; most of what he saw were small pieces of Gold Sand and gold nuggets. There weren't many gemstones, but they were mixed in with quite a few Diamond; Soren saw nearly a dozen of them.
A brief pause.
Soren crouched in a corner, memorizing the entire environment of the Dragon Nest, while simultaneously making tactical arrangements in his mind.
He has two options.
The first move is to take advantage of the fact that the Dragon hasn't spotted him yet and quickly draw his Legendary Scimitar, Icetail, to launch a sneak attack. As long as the distance is within ten meters, even if the Dragonkind senses him, Soren will still have two or three opportunities to attack. If he's lucky enough to hit the leader's vital points, Soren can inflict considerable damage on the enemy right from the start of the battle.
However, this means the upcoming battles will be much more difficult.
Because the space inside the Dragon Nest is too small, the White Dragon will definitely breathe Dragon Breath when it realizes what's happening, and Soren will have nowhere to hide.
Never try to withstand Dragon Breath!
This is a point specifically highlighted in the Dragon Slayer Rules.
The second plan is to lure the White Dragon out, thus eliminating the opportunity for a sneak attack, but also making the White Dragon believe he is just a thief who has infiltrated the Dragon Nest. Under normal circumstances, the White Dragon will definitely chase him away from the lair. In this way, Soren can lure it down, giving the elite pirates lying in ambush below an opportunity to attack.
If we can keep the White Dragon on the ground, our chances of winning will be as high as 80%!
soon.
Soren had already made up his mind.
Suddenly, his figure shot out, pouncing directly on the White Dragon before him. He then reached out and grabbed the treasure beneath it, snatching a handful of gold and Diamond. After obtaining the treasure, Soren immediately withdrew. Just as he approached the treasure within five meters, the sleeping Dragon seemed to sense something and stirred slightly before suddenly opening its enormous dragon eyes.
--"Dragon Sense (10 meters)."
Soren's figure had almost escaped to the outside of the Dragon Nest, and could only be seen as a blurry silhouette.
Roar!
An angry roar erupted!
The Adult White Dragon suddenly opened its eyes and stood up, actually uttering a Common, angrily shouting, "Despicable thief!"
It is no ordinary White Dragon.
It is not one of those wild, unintelligent White Dragon; its ability to use the Common indicates that it possesses some unique qualities.
