The Devil's Currency (First Update)
The cliffs of Dragon Cliff are somewhat difficult to climb.
Left with no other choice, Soren went up first and threw down a rope. Soon, his elite pirates climbed the ice cliff, their eager eyes fixed on the Dragon Nest. Soren counted their numbers and then led them into the Dragon Nest, where they were greeted by a glittering treasure. While not overflowing the entire Dragon Nest, the sight was still visually stunning, especially the scattered gold dust and nuggets.
"So much gold!"
A One-Eyed pirate wearing an eyepatch glanced around, swallowed hard, and said, "So much gold, so many jewels! This should be enough for us to pull off dozens of heists!"
The other pirates had similar expressions.
Some of the smaller leaders remained relatively calm, though they were still somewhat dazzled. Only one young man was truly composed. He pulled a Monocle from his jacket pocket, scanned the glasses up and down, and then muttered as if calculating, "Gold and silver are probably around 100,000 Gold Daler, and jewelry and Diamond are likely around 50,000 Gold Daler. We're not entirely sure about the other stuff, but we should have made a fortune this time. All those brothers who died weren't for nothing."
It takes more than two hundred years for White Dragon to reach Adult.
So the wealth before him was a treasure accumulated over two hundred years. Because he hadn't attacked any city-states, the amount of treasure didn't seem too staggering. If it were Dragon had attacked cities or extorted kingdoms, its treasure might be something like the dragon on the Lonely Mountain in the Lord of the Rings —a true mountain of gold and a sea of silver. Perhaps having experienced so much, Soren, having weathered countless storms, was much calmer seeing such a mountain of gold before him.
He glanced at the treasure before him and said in a deep voice, "Move it all onto the ship. You should all remember my rules."
"Rewards will be given according to merit in due time."
"If anyone dares to hoard it, you all know what will happen to them! Men, you three, take the gold out first. One-Eyed, you five, divide the silver into piles, then carry them down in cloth. When someone brings boxes next time, take them all back in boxes. Everyone will be richly rewarded on this trip!"
Soren quickly assigned the tasks.
Then they called over the young pirate with the Monocle, and the two of them sorted the jewelry Diamond into a separate area.
These are all high-value spoils of war. Even though Soren strictly forbids keeping them for himself, someone might still sneak in a couple, so it's better for him to handle them himself. There are more common gems, such as Ruby, Sapphire, Agate, Gold Daler Emerald, totaling about a hundred. These gems are less valuable, probably because this world is rich in minerals. Most of these gems are worth between one hundred and five hundred Gold Daler.
Finally, there are the Diamond that White Dragon likes to collect. There are probably more than fifty of them.
These Diamond were all very valuable; Soren glanced at them and found that most were worth hundreds of Gold Daler. One Diamond, almost the size of a fingernail, was a crystal-clear, azure Diamond, and appeared to have been polished. Soren held this beautiful blue diamond in his hand and estimated its weight. It was about fifty grams; in his previous life, this weight would have been an extraordinary treasure. Even in this world, it was quite rare, something that only top-tier Royal Family and nobility could possibly possess.
"It looks very valuable."
Soren examined the blue diamond in his hand; the craftsmanship was exceptionally high. He wondered where the White Dragon had come from. Because Soren lacked the ability to Appraise, he couldn't determine its exact worth. However, he was certain it was more expensive than all the other Diamond combined. Such valuable items were difficult to sell; even Royal Family would have to carefully consider their financial resources before acquiring it. Conservatively, its value was over 30,000 Gold Daler!
Soren glanced at it and then put the azure Diamond away.
He then packed away the other jewels Diamond. Next, he searched for any Transcendent Tier equipment as loot. Unfortunately, Soren found nothing. Because this was Overseas Regions, the Dragonkind living here rarely encountered Adventurer, making it difficult to collect high-value Supernatural Equipment. These days, the more often Dragon was challenged, the richer its loot collection. Dragons like the White Dragon, who were easily killed by Soren, didn't accumulate much Supernatural Equipment.
Among the Chromatic Dragon, the Red Dragon is the most powerful and has the most treasures; its Dragon Nest almost always contains Legendary- level equipment.
This is something that other Dragon can hardly match.
About half an hour later.
Soren had emptied the Dragon Nest, and the pirates who had stayed on the ship had all arrived. Next, they needed to move the White Dragon's corpse. But just as he was about to leave, the young pirate beside him seemed to have discovered something. He approached respectfully, holding two somewhat grayish stones, and said, "Sir! I found these in a corner. I don't know what they are, but they seem to be useful!"
What's this?
Soren reached out and took the two grayish stones. After a brief glance, he was startled. He then looked at the young pirate beside him and said approvingly, "Well done! What's your name?"
The young pirate looked excited and leaned down, saying, "My name is Nacos, but they all like to call me by my nickname— Treasure-Seeking Rat."
Treasure hunting talent?
Soren paused for a moment upon hearing this, then looked him up and down and said, "Hmm. I'll remember you. Someone will take care of things when we get back."
There are some strange and unusual Racial Feat in this world. Many of these abilities are innate, like some people who have an unexpected intuition for treasure hunting. Others have extraordinary talents in searching, Listen, and sensing. These people are born with one or two extra Feat, many of which are not combat abilities, but if used properly, they can be quite useful. Soren remembers a Goblin professional who was quite remarkable, born with a Legendary treasure hunting Feat. It seemed that nothing of value could escape his notice.
Soren led his men away from Dragon Cliff.
On the way, he kept fiddling with the two grayish stones in his hands. He was quite familiar with them, but he still needed to use some of his Slaughter Experience to identify them.
A faint glimmer of light appeared:
Item type: Soul Stone [+1]
Item Level: [Tier 1 Supernatural Item]
Item Description: This is a special gem that stores Soul Energy, a flawed product of Soul Bind or other soul-binding Spell. The Soul Energy stored in this type of Soul Stone is relatively limited, and it can be used to replace many special materials or as an equivalent Alchemy tool. In the Baator Hell and the Abyss, Soul Stone are often used as currency, because for Devil, gold and jewels hold little meaning; only souls are what they crave most.
Usage requirements: None.
Effect 1: Draws energy from the Soul Stone, granting 3000-5000 Slaughter Experience points.
Effect 2: Serves as currency for the Devil's bargain, or as an alternative to a summoning contract.
Two Soul Stone.
They are all Tier 1 Supernatural Item.
No one knows where the White Dragon got this thing, because in Soren's understanding, it's very rare in the Material Plane; only in Baator Hell and the Abyss does it circulate as currency. Gold and silver jewels have little meaning to Demon and Devil, especially for Devil. Gold is just a boring collection, while silver is something to be loathed. Because in Baator Hell, silver is called "poison sting," Devil will be burned when they touch it, just like a person touching sulfuric acid.
The Devil craves souls most of all!
Therefore, the souls of the Baator Hell are the only truly valuable currency, but this currency is extremely rare because they have to find ways to steal it from the God of Death Reaper.
A complete soul is of considerable value!
Unfortunately, there are still many weaker Devil in the Baator Hell, so Soul Stone appeared as a substitute.
This is an incomplete form of Soul Energy.
It was once jokingly called ' the Devil's currency,' used to trade with the Devil or as a sacrifice to Summon Devil. For beings like Soren, who could absorb Soul Energy and convert it into Slaughter Experience, it could also enhance their strength by directly absorbing the energy of the Soul Stone. Therefore, for a time, many people liked to collect it, as it could allow someone to quickly rise again!
Soul Stone contain energy.
However, lower-ranking Devil cannot absorb it. It is mostly offered to Mid-tier and higher -Devil ranking Devil, who then bestow energy upon the offering's subordinate Devil to elevate their strength by one or two ranks. Therefore, even in the Baator Hell, Soul Stone are rare items, and basically only Medium Devil can collect them. Their strength is roughly equivalent to that of Legendary Professional in the Material Plane.
Although it is only Tier 1 Supernatural Item.
However, Soul Stone are as rare and valuable as Legendary Item, and their circulation is basically limited to the Baator Hell.
"The soul is currency!"
This is the most common Common in Hell.
The most wasteful way to use Soul Stone is to directly absorb its energy.
Although Soren wasn't very adept at using Soul Stone, he knew a way to maximize their value: using them to Summon Devil Soul Stone, then arranging for a group of happy friends to come and "watch" it. Whether the Devil was ultimately killed or used for something else was entirely up to him.
The biggest drawback of this method is that it cannot be used too many times!
Therefore, if Soren possesses a formation for Summon Devil, he can directly use Soul Stone to summon low- to mid-level Devil.
