Lance Charge
Ogre CR of 5; they are born as Tier 2 intelligent beings.
If they successfully advance, their strength will be the sum of their CR and their class level. Although the Ogre army before them is only at the second or third level of Warrior, and their skills as Warrior are far inferior to those of humans, their overall strength is a notch above that of the White Horse City army. The Ogre ' innate strength allows them to charge recklessly once they enter the battle line. The Heavy Infantry, who are enhanced with Bull's Strength and Bull's Strength, can barely stop them, but the other White Horse Guard will not have it so easy.
A slight disturbance appeared in the first line of defense.
Waves of Ogre charged forward fell, twenty or thirty killed in mere breaths by crossbow bolts. But the White Horse City army also suffered heavy casualties. Most of the light infantrymen unfortunate enough to be struck by Morningstar died instantly, and those lucky enough to be struck by them lost limbs. The Wizard's Spell were limited, and most were concentrated on the more powerful Heavy Infantry. Without Spell, the light infantry were no match for the Ogre charge.
"Stay calm! Stay calm!"
The commander, Full Plate Armor, roared, pointed his sword forward, and shouted, "White Horse City's elite legions, attack!"
Heavy footsteps sounded.
The Tier 2 of Heavy Infantry began to advance. They were all clad in Full Plate Armor, but without shields. Their weapons were varied: some wielded two-handed swords, others long-handled broadswords, and still others used flails, Morningstar, giant scythes, and other special weapons. All of them were third-tier Warrior, with class levels of 10 or higher. They required no Spell enhancement and roared as they charged towards the Ogre before them.
Ding ding ding!
The sounds of clashing weapons rang out one after another.
These heavily armored elite infantry easily blocked the Ogre's attack head-on, fearlessly engaging them in direct combat. Their Full Plate Armor figures remained agile, Dodge the enemy's fierce attacks while searching for opportunities to strike vital points. Ten class levels meant five points of free attribute points; their strength wasn't significantly different from the Ogre. The only pity was their small number, only seventy or eighty men. However, with their arrival in the battle, the first line of defense quickly stabilized.
"A fatal attack?"
Soren fired his Heavy Crossbow repeatedly, glancing briefly at the Strangulate battlefront. Three or five figures stood out; wherever they went, Ogre lay dead, and within minutes, over a dozen fell to their swords. These were the Warrior Ogre armor; their movements were exceptionally agile, their Straight-bladed Sword slicing through the Ogre ' vital points in an instant.
Tier 3 Swordmaster!
As an advanced class of Warrior that is extremely violent, even more dangerous than Berserker, these humans who have advanced to the Swordmaster level are simply Slaughter machines.
Five or six Heavy Infantry guarded the swordsman on either Swordmaster, shielding him from enemies on the flanks and behind during coordinated attacks.
The Swordmaster is extremely fragile!
Without even a single piece of Leather Armor on their bodies, they would almost certainly die on the spot if hit by the enemy.
Soren shot an Ogre in the eye socket; the bolt pierced through from the front, instantly killing the enemy. Ogre grant a high amount of Slaughter Experience; this was just an ordinary Ogre Warrior, and he already gained 800 Slaughter Experience points. If it were an advanced Ogre Warrior, the Slaughter Experience he would gain would be almost comparable to that of the Abyss Marilith he killed at the beginning.
"Thunder Spear!"
A fully armored Ogre Warlord seemed to have spotted these dangerous enemies. With a roar, it drew an iron spear and hurled it towards the Swordmaster's location. The Ogre Warrior charging after it followed closely, roaring as they drew their own spears and hurled them at the enemy. The spears sliced through the air with a sharp whistling sound, instantly killing five Warrior. One, unable Dodge dodge, had his thigh pierced by the spear. Before anyone could come to his aid, the Ogre grinned and pounced, swinging its heavy Morningstar down!
Like smashing a watermelon, the Swordmaster's head shattered instantly.
Powerful yet fragile.
Swordmaster who has almost completely abandoned his armor is an easy target for the enemy to concentrate their attacks on in such a large-scale battlefield.
They were so conspicuous.
The Ogre was equipped with three iron spears. Two rounds of overdrafting had already depleted most of their ammunition. As the distance closed, the Ogre Warlord roared and led a group of advanced warriors smeared with eerie paint to charge at the Wizard behind them. These fragile Spellcaster were equally dangerous; their thrown iron spears had a range of nearly one hundred meters. Once they broke through the first line of defense, they could attack the Wizard behind them. Mage Armor could not withstand the impact of such heavy weapons; a single iron spear hit could pierce through their enhanced Mage Armor and shields.
These Ogre are monsters who don't play by the rules.
Unable to break through the entanglement on the main battlefield, some of the Ogre abandoned their immediate enemies and charged towards the Adventurer on both flanks.
A chorus of curses erupted.
Many Adventurer had no choice but to draw their weapons and block the Ogre head-on.
Once Blood Frenzy, the Ogre completely lost their minds. Aside from attacking their own kind, anyone could become their target. As the fighting progressed, the Ogre became disoriented, rampaging through the crowd for a while, some attacking light infantry, others rushing towards Adventurer.
Boom!
It was like a muffled thunderclap.
The Storm Lord of the Legendary Domain could no longer contain herself. She drew a Shortspear and hurled it, a bolt of lightning crackling across its surface, instantly pinning down an Ogre Warrior.
A swift figure flew out, far exceeding the capabilities of a normal human. The Storm Lord's spear crackled with electricity, and the Ogre before him fell like wheat being harvested, almost all of them killed instantly, their wounds bearing the scorch marks of lightning. The Legendary Professional's strength was on full display at this moment, killing seven or eight Ogre in the blink of an eye.
The frenzied sound of war drums echoed.
The Ogre Shaman roared to the sky, pulled a giant bone club from behind him, and strode heavily into the battlefield.
The Two-Headed Ogre had been silent until now, finally began to move. Its two heads simultaneously began casting spells, each wielding a heavy battle axe, and it charged towards the Storm Lord before it. Radiant Spell appeared, Two-Headed Ogre's skin turned as hard as rock. Its speed instantly doubled, and with a swing of its battle axe, it tore a Heavy Infantry to pieces on the spot.
"Fireball!"
--"Scorching Ray!"
--"Draconic Might!"
"Haste!"
The Two-Headed Ogre's spellcasting speed far surpassed that of the human Wizard. A Fireball exploded within the light infantry's formation; even though they had scattered to Dodge, more than ten men fell, most of them already dead. After empowering itself with Draconic Might, the Two-Headed Ogre's strength seemed to defy the heavens; a single swing of its battle axe even Polymorph Steel Shield. Only after its round of Spell ended could the other Wizard barely complete their Spell, using Counterspell to interrupt its subsequent Greater Haste.
However, two or three Wizard were clearly pale, with Sisi of blood trickling from the corners of their mouths. This was because their Counterspell had failed, and they had been seriously injured.
Their intelligence was no match for the Two-Headed Ogre Wizard before them.
The White Horse City army fell like wheat being harvested; from the moment the Two-Headed Ogre made his move until he joined the battle, hundreds of soldiers were killed or wounded in less than a minute or two.
"It doesn't have many Spell Slot left!"
Soren's pupils contracted slightly as he drew his Scimitar and slashed at the lower back of an Ogre.
Wizard's Spell Slot are limited. The Two-Headed Ogre can cast spells very quickly, but it also consumes Spell Slot very quickly. The Spell it just cast used up at least half of its Spell Slot.
--"Fly."
The Ogre Warrior, empowered by Spell, moved with incredible speed, breaking through the front lines and lunging at the Wizard behind.
With a series of Spell Aura, the Wizard's figure flew into the air. The Fly lasts for a very short time; one point of Spell power can only maintain it for one minute. In flight, without special spellcasting Feat, agility and spellcasting ability drop sharply because they also need to maintain the Fly at the same time.
"Cavalry charge!"
The moment on the battlefield was fleeting. The Ogre hurled their iron spears, and the Wizard used a variety of methods to evade them, including casting defensive Spell, taking flight, or teleporting. Only one or two unlucky Tier 2 Wizard were simultaneously struck by the spears. One wizard, who had offended Goddess of Fortune, had only teleported fifty feet when a spear pierced his chest. Low-level Spell have a range of no more than five hundred feet, Wizard were only two or three hundred meters from the battlefield.
--"Hold Monster!"
--"Charm Monster!"
--"Invisibility!"
"Fire Bolt, Melf's Acid Arrow, Ice Spear, Polymorph!..."
The Wizard finally began to unleash his spells, employing a variety of Spell based on his specialization. Half of the Ogre at the forefront collapsed. Their tenacious Hit Points allowed many Ogre to withstand the Spell and charge forward, their bodies charred black, yet they still swung their Morningstar with Rage fury.
The heavy hooves of cavalry thundered as the White Horse City knight squad lowered their lances and spurred their horses into a flank charge. With each dull thud, the heavy cavalry gradually dispersed, maintaining a distance of about two meters as they charged towards their enemies. The Knight Lance 'Knight Lance, imbued with immense force, pierced through the Ogre, breaking off automatically upon impact and leaving half of the spear embedded in the enemy's body.
A head-on collision is impossible, because the horse will automatically avoid it, and the rider would not be able to withstand the reaction force.
Cavalry charges involve attacking in the split second of dislocation. To absorb the recoil, most Knight Lance are quite brittle and break upon impact; otherwise, the reaction force would throw the knight off his horse.
Clang!
They drew their Longsword, turned their horses, and charged. In the instant they passed the Ogre, they swung their swords horizontally, the Ogre clubs barely grazing their armor before falling limply to the ground, for their chests had been ripped open with horrifying wounds. The warhorses neighed in agony; having been merely grazed, their bones broke instantly, throwing their riders off. The riders leaped to their feet, raising their shields Longsword, and braced themselves to block a second attack.
(P. S.: The idea that lances can be used for frontal charges is misleading. In the hands of knights, lances and spears used by infantry are only for thrusting; a head-on collision would send them flying. Real knightly lances were disposable consumables, with an iron tip and a brittle wooden shaft that would break upon impact, reducing the force of the recoil. The idea of charging in a dense formation is also misleading. Knights attacked with staggered slashes and thrusts; heavy cavalry rarely engaged in head-on collisions, charging more from the side and rear, because both horses and riders are flesh and blood.)
