But this was only the beginning. Lin Xiao first secretly loaded the skills of every Murloc at or above the True Believer level beside the altar, then loudly called all the Gray Mist Fishmen to gather at the altar and repeated what he had just said.
Then, a Murloc who had just advanced from Light Believer to True Believer grabbed the Bone Spike in his hand and shot out with a whoosh, so fast that the Murlocs beside him jumped in fright.
Before the eyes of every Murloc, this Level 0 Murloc, who had yet to become a Level 1 Murloc Warrior, erupted with unprecedented speed and slammed heavily into a Sea Sand Wall not far from the altar. With a thunderous boom, the Sea Sand Wall, as sturdy as a brick wall, was blasted through on the spot, leaving a hole large enough for a thigh to pass through as shattered sand sprayed everywhere.
Compared to Lin Xiao's earlier display, this Murloc's performance was far more convincing. After all, he himself was the Tribal Chieftain, and everyone knew he was powerful. But this Murloc had been known as weak by everyone, yet he could unleash such formidable combat strength. It completely overturned their understanding.
Especially as the True Believer Murlocs finished loading their skills one after another and began unleashing combat strength that was terrifying by Murloc standards, Lin Xiao saw the Scorching Heat in the other Murlocs' eyes and immediately stepped forward, shouting, "This is the power bestowed by the great Lord of Gray Mist! Have faith in the great Lord of Gray Mist, and He will grant us mighty power!"
The facts were right before them. It was not just one or two Murlocs, but so many who had gained great power. They were all among the Murlocs with the deepest faith in the Lord of Gray Mist. The effect of so many examples was astonishing. In less than a minute, all thirty-four remaining False Believers became True Believers.
Of the original forty-three True Believers, two-thirds became Devout Believers. Most importantly, eight of the original Devout Believers became Fanatic Believers.
Before this, he had only one Fanatic Believer.
After tallying everything up, Lin Xiao now had a total of nine Fanatic Believers, thirty-eight Devout Believers, and the rest were all True Believers.
As a result, every Kinfolk member was qualified to load the skill Salted Fish Thrust.
Loading the same skill this way, rather than directly and crudely loading it, also brought extra gains.
Of course, this did not mean Lin Xiao was particularly skilled at tending believers. These were all the first batch of Kinfolk created when the Divine Domain was opened, and they had bonuses to their faith. Any player could have done this well, and some could have done even better than him. The true test would be the new Kinfolk added in the future, or how to educate the indigenous races of other planes conquered during future campaigns in the Outland. That was where a newborn Deity's abilities would truly be tested.
And Lin Xiao's new test arrived immediately. After loading the new skill for the entire tribe, he began loading the Species Card. Four hundred new Gray Mist Fishmen suddenly appeared on the beach north of the tribe, moving toward the Gray Mist Fishmen tribe under the guidance of an unknown force.
With a thought, a point of golden light vanished from above the Murloc Chieftain's head. Then, in the name of the Lord of Gray Mist, he issued a Divine Revelation.
The instant the Divine Revelation was delivered, a ray of golden light shot from the Holy Symbol at the center of the altar into the forehead of the restored Murloc Chieftain. The tribal part-time priest suddenly raised the Bone Blade in his hand and shouted:
"The great Lord of Gray Mist has just told us that a group of Murlocs has arrived in our waters. Children, come with me."
Lin Xiao had a major class every seven days, so invasions from other realms occurred nearly once every few years. The Murlocs were used to it. Although the interval this time had been very short, none of them grew suspicious. Having just obtained powerful new strength, they were all eager to try it out and brimming with confidence.
More than a hundred Gray Mist Fishmen charged out of the tribe under the Murloc Chieftain's lead and headed north along the beach. Halfway there, they spotted four hundred ragged-looking Gray Mist Fishmen walking south, and both sides stopped at the same time.
Although the Gray Mist Fishmen on the other side were more numerous, they looked utterly miserable, yellow-faced and emaciated, little more than skin and bones. They seemed to be refugees, and more than half of them did not even have a weapon in hand.
The Gray Mist Fishmen tribe, though smaller in number, at least ate well. Seven or eight schools of fish, shrimp, and crabs were raised in the Divine Domain, enough to keep over a hundred Murlocs well fed.
Coupled with their battle experience and their newly acquired skills, they suppressed the four hundred-plus Gray Mist Fishmen in sheer presence.
Unlike when they faced other invaders, perhaps because the other side consisted of Gray Mist Fishmen as well, along with Lin Xiao's subtle mental suggestion, the Murloc tribe did not immediately start shouting about killing. After confronting each other for a while, the Murloc Chieftain stepped forward and began communicating with the group of Gray Mist Fishmen.
Seeing this, Lin Xiao breathed a sigh of relief. He had been afraid that if a fight broke out, they would definitely lose a great many Murlocs.
Since they had not fought from the beginning, they would not fight later either. After all, Fang Ning had not initially said that enemies were invading, and the Kinfolk had not begun with any strong desire to fight, though their desire to show off was considerable.
As they brought this bedraggled group of Gray Mist Fishmen back to the tribe, the tribal Murlocs kept displaying their skills, shocking many of the Murloc refugees. When they reached the tribe and saw the altar at its center, nearly a quarter of the Murloc refugees immediately approached it and knelt in worship. Lin Xiao instantly sensed more than a hundred Faith Threads.
Although they were all incredibly thin, marking them as Nominal Believers, this represented a good beginning. It showed that this group of Murloc refugees was highly receptive to faith.
Given enough time, through constant exposure and his occasional displays of divine miracles, it would not be difficult to turn all these Murloc refugees into believers.
Time passed swiftly. Ten days went by, and the plentifully caught fish and shrimp transformed the Murloc refugees from their formerly bedraggled state. They quickly integrated into the new tribe.
Under the daily influence of the original tribe, more Murlocs joined the faith of the Lord of Gray Mist. His number of believers rapidly increased, and soon more than two-thirds of the newcomers had formed Faith Threads with Lin Xiao, signifying that they had become his new believers. Their faith was still shallow, however, and they were basically all Light Believers.
But he was not in a hurry. Faith was not something that could be rushed. He had plenty of time, so he could take it slowly. Daily fixed Prayer, a regular large-scale gathering of believers once a month, and especially the upcoming Placement Test after some time would all be excellent opportunities to spread the faith.
That day, under Lin Xiao's deliberate guidance, the tribe began gathering sea sand and broken stones from outside, preparing to expand the tribe.
At that point, Lin Xiao stopped observing. After confirming that the Kinfolk were developing well and that the two groups had smoothly merged, he logged off in satisfaction.
After emerging from the Divine Domain Login Pod, Lin Xiao continued thinking about the situation within the Divine Domain. He realized that the Murlocs' food supply might be insufficient.
The Divine Domain itself only had four one-star Sturgeon Schools, one two-star Sardine School, one one-star Green Shrimp school, and two one-star Blue Crab schools.
The numbers were neither too many nor too few, enough to support several hundred Murlocs.
But the problem was that the newly arrived Murlocs had twice the fertility rate and offspring survival rate of their kind. This meant that before long, the Murloc population in the Divine Domain would grow rapidly, and this amount of food might not be enough.
What should he do if there was not enough food? Buy cards and feed them, of course!
