Nature and Function

Divinity is the foundational power of a Divine Creature. Before God Sealing, it is the core of a Divine Creature’s strength; after becoming a Demigod, it shares that role with Godhood; after becoming a True God, Godhead and Godhood become the fundamental cores of power 125.

It is closely tied to the soul. Igniting Divine Fire fuses the soul and Divinity, tempered by Faith Power, into an enduring flame. This process grants Demigod status, but continued Faith Power is necessary to keep the Divine Fire from weakening or extinguishing 402.

Godhood determines the qualitative character of Divinity. Divinity infused with Life Godhood can restore or animate a withered tree, while Divinity wielded through Destruction Godhood would reduce it to ash. Mastery of Laws further determines how much power a given amount of Divinity can express 475.

Each increase in Divinity level can grant a new Divinity Transcendent Ability or strengthen an existing one. The gap between levels is geometric rather than linear; a Level Two Divine Creature with ten points is far stronger than a Level One Divine Creature with five 187.

Acquisition and Refinement

• Creation rewards — Successfully creating a new species can earn Divinity directly from an obscure universal law. Lin Xiao received a point after creating the Naga species. 23
• Divine remains — Divinity can be extracted from a slain Demigod’s corpse. Gelas’s corpse yielded three points. 88
• Faith Power — Pure Faith Power can be condensed into Divinity; one point of Divinity corresponds to one million units of pure Faith Power in Lin Xiao’s pastor-bestowal process. 192
• World origins — Refining a world will can provide exceptional gains. Lin Xiao’s Sixth Order breakthrough came from the Nightmare Crystal Wall World Origin contained in the Nightmare World Will, rather than merely from Evil God Strength. 333 334

Applications

Godhood and Divine Fire

Divinity is required to carry, condense, and maintain Godhood. Low-level Godhoods may need only one to several points, while powerful Godhoods such as War, Slaughter, Destruction, Death, and Magic require dozens of points; super Godhoods require more than forty 88 191.

Once Divine Fire and Godhood are condensed, both require Divinity for long-term maintenance. Insufficient maintenance weakens the Divine Fire, lowers Divinity, and diminishes Godhood; complete loss of maintenance eventually causes Godhood to collapse 299.

Divine Arts and Transcendent Abilities

A Divine Creature’s Divinity level determines the maximum level of Divine Arts they may bestow on pastors. A Level Three Divine Creature can select Divine Arts up to level three, while Demigods may bestow up to level six regardless of their specific Divinity total 192.

• Divinity Transcendent Abilities can be newly selected or upgraded as Divinity level rises. 187
• Extraordinary Precognition Spell was selected by Lin Xiao because it corresponded to his potential Truth and Fate paths. 191

Avatars and Divine Bodies

A Divinity Avatar is formed by fusing a portion of Divinity with Divine Power and an imprinted will. It cannot develop independent consciousness; if that will disappears, the avatar collapses 209.

Divinity also determines an avatar’s potential strength. With one point of Divinity as its foundation, expending ten points of Divine Power can produce a strike comparable to an eighth-order Legendary creature, though such output rapidly exhausts the avatar’s usable power 209.

Bestowal and God Sealing

Divinity can be bestowed upon followers to raise them into Divine Creatures or prepare them for higher advancement. Lin Xiao used it to cultivate Slarda and planned to use it on other core heroes after becoming a Demigod 180 340.

The Minor God Sealing Art allows Lin Xiao to grant mortals Divinity, Godhood, and Demigod status. Its greater form, the God Sealing Art, can instantly God Seal mortals when combined with sufficient Divinity, Godhead, and other resources 407 477 557.

Divine Kingdom Construction

Large reserves of Divinity can create or transform a Divine Kingdom. Lin Xiao used 20 million points to create a miniature Divine Kingdom with rules derived from a world’s Bottom-Layer Rules 576.

A Divine Kingdom created from scratch consumes far more Divinity than one transformed from a Demiplane, but its rules can be shaped directly rather than inherited from the Demiplane’s existing nature 576.

Manifestations and Hazards

• Divinity halos — When Divine Domain students emerged from teleportation, their Divinity manifested as golden halos; the more Divinity they possessed, the larger the halo. Unformed Divinity appeared as a translucent extension. 143
• Divinity radiation — Powerful beings naturally emit Divinity radiation capable of distorting weaker minds. True Gods may need to restrain their power to avoid overwhelming nearby mortals or destabilizing another’s Divine Domain. 118 236
• Plane Will detection — A Plane Will is highly sensitive to Divinity and the opening of a Divine Domain. Using either while concealed in an unfamiliar Plane can expose a descender. 213
