Chao Jing had no idea where he was. He only knew that he had fallen into the hands of the Demon Foxes.
By the light of glowing pearls, the three master and disciples hung in an underground space. Behind them lay an underground lake, while water seeped from the stone ceiling above, dripping like rain with echoes all around.
All three were in a miserable state, covered in blood and wounds. They had endured the Fox Clan's brutal interrogations. They hung low, their toes barely clear of the ground.
After they were captured, quite a few Demon Fox vertical eyes had been found on them. The consequences could well be imagined. The Fox Clan had been enraged, and they had tortured them mercilessly!
Chao Jing was a tough nut, though. Faced with the Fox Clan's harsh tortures, he refused to confess no matter what.
Yet he found it strange that the Fox Clan had interrogated him about Niu Youdao, even asking about Niu Youdao's trip to the Butterfly Dream Illusory Realm. He had no idea how the Fox Clan had learned of it.
The reason he refused to talk was not to protect Niu Youdao, but because he knew that even if he confessed, he would not survive.
If he said nothing, then in their search for answers, there might still be a path to survival. Perhaps he could live a while longer. Perhaps there might even be a chance to escape.
As for Xu Huo and the other Myriad Beasts Sect disciple, torturing confessions out of them was useless. The two knew very little, and they knew absolutely nothing about Niu Youdao or the Butterfly Dream Illusory Realm.
When they could get nothing out of them despite severe torture, the Demon Foxes stopped and simply kept them hanging there.
