He sat beside the desk in his study, holding the letter and staring at it for a long while without saying a word.
Shao Sansheng tentatively reminded him, "Jia Wuqun has his eyes on Miss Liu'er?"

"How would I know?" Shao Pingbo said. "I know next to nothing about Yuan Se."
Shao Sansheng did not understand. "Since Jia Tongueless knows what to do, why borrow Young Master's hand?"
"Because Liu'er is my sister. He is telling me to handle it as I see fit. If I do nothing, then he will act. If I refuse, once he makes his move, no one can tell how heavily Liu'er will suffer. But if I do it, I will only sink deeper and deeper. Lan Daolin before me, Yuan Se after me..."
Shao Sansheng let out a sigh. "What use is there in targeting Yuan Se's confidant?"
"Nothing more than framing someone, driving a wedge between them, sowing discord, that sort of thing. Either they want to stir up trouble over there, or they want to use this Consort Yuan for something. It can only be one of those things." He rose.
