"Can't send troops?" Damir immediately grew anxious.
He angrily addressed the mayor by name.
"Thorin, what do you mean? Are you really going to stand by and watch those villagers wait to die one by one?"
"Hey, hey! Don't get worked up, young man." Thorin wasn't bothered by Damir's anger.
"Come over here and take a look at this first."
Under Damir's puzzled gaze, Mayor Thorin led everyone into the second room.
At the center of the room sat an iron cage covered by a black cloth. Violent crashing sounds came from inside, as though some savage beast was imprisoned within.
But when Thorin signaled for his guards to remove the black cloth, Damir discovered that the creature inside was merely an ordinary wild rabbit.
No, "ordinary" wasn't quite the right word.
It still looked like a rabbit, but its body had suffered the same extensive decay and corpse-like transformation as the creature in the previous room.
Most noticeably, Damir could once again sense that evil power coming from the rabbit.
"So what are you trying to say?"
"Are you telling me that rabbits corrupted by evil power are all this fierce, so your soldiers got scared?"
Faced with the young mage's questioning, Thorin didn't explain. Instead, he continued by nodding to the guard stationed there.
Then, without warning—
The guard opened the cage's lid from above at astonishing speed and tossed in another ordinary wild rabbit he had caught.
The Corrupted Wild Rabbit immediately lunged at the normal rabbit and tore into it. Within seconds, a bloody corpse lay inside the cage.
Just as Damir was at a loss—
The next moment, the normal rabbit's corpse, which had just been bitten to death, suddenly seemed to come alive again. It began twitching as large chunks of flesh fell away.
