Background / History

Shirley was originally a Great Silver Wolf of Claw Forest. During the Abyss disaster, she fought to keep Abyss Creatures away from Liao Zixuan despite suffering severe wounds and corruption. Her body began to decay, her fur fell away, and her mind increasingly gave way to the Abyss before Liao Zixuan intervened. 67

Liao Zixuan used his Dark Flame to remove the corruption. Rather than destroying her, the Dark Flame, Abyss power, and Shirley’s original essence balanced one another, producing the unknown Abyssal Flame Silver Wolf race. Upon waking, Shirley immediately sought him out and became deeply attached to him. 67 68

After secretly demonstrating greater intelligence than she had let on, Shirley consumed an Abyss Core and endured its effects. The event propelled her into the extraordinary realm, allowed her to assume human form, and awakened her Abyss Authority. 91 92

Appearance

Shirley can freely shift between a wolf form, a humanoid form, and an Abyss-empowered combat form. Her original snow-white Great Silver Wolf body became a larger black-and-white wolf after her metamorphosis. 67

Shirley is intensely loyal to Liao Zixuan, whom she calls Lord Black. Her wolf instincts equate usefulness and strength with the right to remain beside her king; even powers she considers evil are acceptable to her if they let her protect or serve him. 92 93

She is possessive and easily jealous of those close to him, particularly Vivian and Lis. Her jealousy initially drove her conflict with Vivian, but witnessing Vivian stand against the Abyss tide changed Shirley’s view: she apologized and came to recognize Vivian’s worth. 94 111 116
