Ding Ling and Zhao Yun fought through Dong Zhuo’s forces, and Ding Ling wounded Lü Bu before turning south instead of joining the battle at Hulao Pass. In the mountains, Ding Ling became Hua Tuo’s disciple, mastered his teachings with startling speed, and agreed to help treat the plague in Runan in return for learning the Qing Nang Jing.

• Ding Ling captured Yique City, killed Yang Ding, and rode onward with Zhao Yun and Dong Huang as forces across Luoyang were ordered to pursue them.
• Ding Ling learned Dong Huang’s archery and saber techniques instantly, then used his newly mastered archery to fight Cao Xing and the generals led by Zhang Liao.
• Ding Ling routed the Wolf Cavalry, killed Wei Xu and Song Xian, and mastered several manuals recovered from the fallen officers.
• Ding Ling established a pigeon station in Song County, then fought Lü Bu in a halberd duel and exchanged volleys of arrows until Lü Bu fled wounded.

Ding Ling killed Lei Bo, forced Yuan Yao to guide him through Wancheng, and took the Yuan Clan’s medicines and martial arts. He rescued Du Qingcheng with Diao Chan’s help, then fought his way out of the Yuan residence as Yuan Shu’s forces tried to stop them.

• Ding Ling killed Lei Bo after the general accused him and his companions of stealing horses, then learned from Yan Xiang how Lei Bo had abused the people under his command.
• Ding Ling killed Chen Lan and routed Yuan Yao’s cavalry, but spared Yuan Yao after forcing him to promise compensation.
• Hua Tuo taught Ding Ling the Qing Nang Jing, and Ding Ling mastered it before entering Wancheng with Zhao Yun and Yuan Yao.
• Ding Ling defeated Sun Ce in a brief fight, took the Ju Que Sword from the armory, and mastered the Yuan Clan’s Human Emperor Breathing Method and Human Emperor Swordplay.
• Diao Chan asked Ding Ling to rescue Du Qingcheng, and he found and treated her after learning she had been poisoned and imprisoned by the Yuan Clan.

Ding Ling defeated the Yellow Turban leaders, treated the plague, and continued toward Yangzhou, but the Yuan Clan ambushed him and killed Yuan Yao and Yuan Yin. Ding Ling killed Yan Liang and Wen Chou, seized their manuals, and set his sights on destroying the Yuan Clan.

• Ding Ling killed Ji Ling and Li Feng, forced Yuan Shu’s army to surrender, and left Wancheng with Hua Tuo and the captive Yuan Yin and Yuan Yao.
• Ma Zhong poisoned Diao Chan during an ambush, but Ding Ling killed him and recovered an antidote that allowed Hua Tuo to save her.
• Ding Ling and Diao Chan infiltrated Queshan City, killed Liu Pi, Huang Shao, He Yi, and other Yellow Turban leaders, then escaped after Ding Ling routed the soldiers.
• Ding Ling’s group helped Hua Tuo treat a plague before Ding Ling left for Yangzhou to seek the Inner Refining Breathing Method.
• Wen Chou, Yan Liang, and He Man ambushed Ding Ling’s group, and Zhao Yun killed He Man before the Yuan forces killed Yuan Yao and Yuan Yin with a volley of arrows.

Ding Ling traveled to Jing Province and Yangzhou, where he defeated Gan Ning, proved his medical skill to Zhang Zhongjing and Yu Ji, and outmatched Zhou Yu in several contests. After passing Yu Ji’s tests, Ding Ling learned the Taiqing Breathing Method and mastered it immediately.

• Ding Ling mastered the martial arts shared by Diao Chan and Du Qingcheng, then continued south with his companions and fought off repeated assassins.
• Ding Ling defeated Gan Ning in the Yangtze, sending the Brocade Sail Pirates fleeing and spreading word of his victory along the river.

• Ding Ling treated Yu Ji’s patients for three days and cured Da Qiao of a poison, earning Yu Ji’s recognition despite Zhou Yu’s protests and jealousy.
• Ding Ling reproduced Yu Ji’s talisman in one stroke, then defeated Zhou Yu in painting, chess, and music, prompting Zhou Yu to leave and vow revenge.
