When the first batch of residual scale dust collected from the Fragment Star Emperor reached Saine, damaged modules from Destruction Mech Soldiers had already been laid out on two other laboratory tables.
One soldier's chest had been almost completely pierced through.
Several mechanical connections that had once received Skynet's orders had also been burned away by the Power of Destruction. By the original assessment, there was no reason to recover and repair this unit.
But during his inspection, Saine noticed that its severed right arm still reacted from time to time.
The response was faint and could not produce a complete movement, yet it bore some resemblance to the newly delivered scale dust.
"Find this soldier's combat records," Saine said.
Wall-E pulled up the files at once.
Before it was damaged, the soldier had maintained an area of destructive fire alongside several others nearby. After its body was pierced, its main connection to Skynet broke, but its remaining right arm still responded to some of the destructive fluctuations established earlier.
Saine isolated the fluctuation and reproduced a similar change on the laboratory table.
The severed mechanical fingers moved again.
It was not the execution of a complete order. It was more like the residual essence responding to an old connection.
The Fragment Star Emperor had only Level-11 power left, yet it could still react to its former Star Sector. That, too, had to do with a deep-rooted connection. Of course, the complexity of the rules involved was on an entirely different scale.
Saine had no intention of copying the entire structure of a Level-12 Destruction Creature into an ordinary soldier.
He only needed to find the parts he could use.
Beside the laboratory table, the Magic Cube began to turn slowly.
