From the beginning until now, he had fought from the Present Realm into hell and back again, secured countless victories, and reaped countless achievements. By now, he could more or less be considered somebody.
But he had never experienced a spectacle on such a massive scale.
When the moment truly came, it would be a lie to say he felt no anxiety.
Over this period, he had run all across the border, acting as a tool and putting out fires everywhere. But those had all been urgent special missions: defensive assaults in localized conflicts, transporting classified cargo, securing supply resources, eliminating aerial threats... When it came to a war of this scale, he had nowhere near enough experience.
Even if he knew what he should do and understood the proper responses for every situation, this was no longer the time for "fierce penetrations, clever flanking maneuvers, and breaking through enemy lines." He was the defense line now. Break through what, exactly?
He held the advantage of terrain, but had lost the mobility he had always taken for granted.
And it was not as though he could just dust himself off and leave if he lost.
Even though the First Sequence now had dozens of support points, and losing the Tower of Glory would not put them in immediate mortal danger, if they truly lost such an important place, then even if Huai Shi did not die, he would probably have no choice but to pack up and go home.
In a situation like this, panic was only natural. Not panicking would have been the real problem.
Anyone in Huai Shi's position would probably feel nervous.
