Background / History
Martial Path Mountain was created at great cost by Great Liang’s Founding Emperor to test and reward exceptional young Martial Artists. Its early challenge grounds preserve combat replicas of Great Liang’s peak talents across nearly three centuries. 142 143
The mountain’s original steps assess challengers against the strongest recorded Martial Artist at a given Aperture Opening level. These historical opponents are not living people, but their combat ability and changing attack patterns are realistic enough to serve as high-level sparring partners. 142 148 154
Its deeper origins remain partly secret. Shao Jingshan states that the Founding Emperor built the first step, while the origins of the subsequent two steps are unknown. 179
“The Martial Path is like climbing a mountain, one step at a time!” 142
Challenge System
Historical Challenge Steps
The first tier pits challengers against recorded Great Liang prodigies at specific Aperture Opening stages.
- A challenger begins against the strongest recorded Martial Artist at their current realm; defeat lowers their challenge level by one Aperture. 142
- Challengers are fully healed between bouts, even after severe injuries. 142 148
- Historical projections lack normal emotion but retain varied and highly refined combat methods. 148 154
- A successful challenger can replace the existing record and have their name recorded at that Aperture level. Lin Chen’s nineteenth-aperture record later manifested as Ye Feng’s opponent. 171
- Many historical geniuses deliberately delayed breakthroughs to perfect their strength at a chosen realm before attempting to leave their names. 143
- Martial Artists who can stand firm within six Apertures of their own realm may obtain a reward. 203
Naming and Record Replacement
Leaving one’s name on Martial Path Mountain is both an honor and a practical means of gaining cultivation resources.
- A recorded name can be replaced by a later challenger who defeats that realm’s holder. 143
- The difficulty of leaving a name rose sharply over time; in the two centuries before Lin Chen’s era, Pei Qingming’s five recorded names were considered the Great Liang record. 206
- Lin Chen surpassed that record by leaving his name seven times in one ascent cycle. 206
- Records may be challenged strategically to prevent another contender from securing recognition or rewards. 205
Rewards
| Achievement / Condition | Reward | Known Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Leaving a name | A personal reward from Martial Path Mountain, alongside potential recognition from the Martial Arts Administration Department 143 | Rewards are tailored to the challenger and are described as exceptionally precious. |
| Defeating Bai Shengyu at eight Apertures while at fourteen Apertures | Qi and Blood Furnace 148 | Purifies Qi and Blood, allowing the recipient to hold more of it. |
| First recorded naming | Nine Revolutions True Blood Organ Refining Method 167 168 | A special Organ Refining method with unusually difficult cultivation requirements and strength gains beyond ordinary techniques. |
| Second recorded naming | Two-star Martial Path Seal 172 | Grants two Martial Points and permits entry to Martial Path Mountain at will. |
| Third recorded naming | Three-star silver Martial Path Seal 190 | Granted Lin Chen three Martial Points and two strands of low-grade Martial Path Battle Intent. |
| Ten thousand consecutive victories and summit challenge | One million Martial Path Mountain points 425 | Also restored Lin Chen’s depleted Xiantian power and fatigue. |
Martial Path Seal
The Martial Path Seal is a blood-bound token forged from Martial Path Mountain stone. It is issued as a naming reward and develops alongside its bearer’s accomplishments. 172
- Entry — The bearer can enter Martial Path Mountain with a thought. 172
- Martial Points — Used to access higher stages; ten points permit entry to the second tier. 172
- Battle Intent — Higher-grade seals can contain Martial Path Battle Intent. 190
- Cultivation benefit — Keeping the seal close may benefit cultivation, though the degree differs between users and is associated with the elusive concept of Martial Fortune. 198
- Protection — While the bearer’s consciousness enters the mountain, the seal can project a golden barrier around their physical body; people below the Middle Grade require time to break it. 297
- Public access — The seal can display challenge information and allow qualified Martial Artists to observe major battles. 403 509
Second Tier
The second tier connects Great Liang’s Martial Path Mountain to the Yan Imperial Dynasty’s much larger ranking network. Rather than fighting historical projections, participants battle real Martial Artists in real time. 294
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Identity registration | Entrants register their name and sect; the system verifies their sect identity before allowing challenges. 294 |
| Ranking system | New entrants begin unranked and must fight into the top 100,000 before receiving a numerical position. 294 |
| Matchmaking | Opponents are matched by ranking and strength across the Yan Imperial Dynasty’s territory. 294 |
| Cross-rank challenge | A participant may challenge an opponent one hundred ranks above them. 295 |
| Communication restriction | Voices cannot be heard outside the top 10,000; challengers may instead use gestures or write in the air. 295 |
| External items | Spirit Weapons and other external treasures cannot be brought into ranking battles, making matches tests of personal strength. 360 |
| Recovery | Injuries and negative conditions are removed after each completed match. 344 |
| Point exchange | Ranking points can be exchanged for cultivation resources and special functions. 294 |
Ranking Milestones

Point Exchange
Martial Path Mountain’s point exchange provides resources that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to obtain.
- Heavenly Gang Thunder Flame — Exchanged to assist Nine Revolutions cultivation. 295
- Martial Evolution Mirror — Creates a dedicated space that can deduce techniques, identify flaws, and reveal improved energy-circulation methods. 411
- Spirit Refining Starfire — Available for strengthening the Divine Soul. 411
- Xiantian Martial Arts Will — Offered in Common, Refined, and Flawless grades for 10,000, 100,000, and 1,000,000 points respectively. 425
Summit and Martial Path Destiny
Reaching first place on Martial Path Mountain is tied to Martial Path Destiny: a form of Martial Fortune obtained through combat, competition, and accumulated victories. 382 425
- Martial Path Mountain is described as a place where Martial Artists compete to seize martial fortune and condense Martial Destiny. 382
- Possessing a Martial Path Destiny does not guarantee entry into the Myriad Manifestations Realm, but it improves a Martial Artist’s chances of reaching it. 425
- On Lin Chen’s twentieth birthday, his seal announced that the first person to ascend Martial Path Mountain and persist until the age limit would receive a Destiny-related position or reward. 479
Tower of Ascension
At a later stage, the Martial Path Seal’s interface changed: the mountain steps disappeared and were replaced by the Tower of Ascension. 509
- The Tower was launched by the Imperial Family for Xiantian Realm experts who had reached Martial Path Mountain’s summit. 509
- Its first thirty floors adjust difficulty according to the challenger’s strength. 521
- Later rules expanded eligibility to Xiantian Martial Artists under one hundred years old, rather than only Martial Path Mountain champions. 587
- The Tower can summon projections of historical powerhouses, including Xiantian Fourth Realm experts. 592
