The month of recuperation passed in the blink of an eye.
Song Ren had prepared for a long time, and his three cubic meters of storage space were already nearly full.
As for weapons, aside from the Glock pistol with freshly loaded magazines and the Black Gold knuckle duster,
he had also bought a top-of-the-line eighty-pound compound bow, along with ten custom carbon arrows fitted with Mitsubishi blade arrowheads.
In some ways, it was even more terrifying than a rifle.
Especially in terms of stability and concealment, it was superior.
Besides that, he had also stocked three cans of pepper spray.
This stuff was extremely useful. No matter how formidable someone was, if they got sprayed without warning, they would be left helpless for a while.
It was practically standard equipment among riot police overseas.
Apart from those items, Song Ren had also prepared several bottles of drinking water and measured portions of compressed biscuits for emergencies.
These supplies had basically filled the storage space.
Wish Mission, second round activated. Flash Point, Sha Po Lang, and Raging Fire Case have been successfully merged. Wisher: The deceased undercover detective A Ren— After Wong Po, the boss of Zhong Yi Xin, beat me into a critical condition, he had his men shoot me dead. Those bastards—I won't let them go even as a ghost! If I get the chance, I also want Inspector Chan Kwok Chung and the others to pay a price. They clearly promised to keep me safe, but they couldn't do it at all! A bunch of impulsive bastards who only knew how to make empty promises! A Ren's wish: Punish the bastards who hurt me.
"..."
Song Ren's expression darkened as he read this. Three movies had been merged?!
The next instant, his vision abruptly went black. When he opened his eyes again, a fragment of unfamiliar identity memories had already merged into his mind.
His current identity was the undercover detective from Sha Po Lang, the one who had infiltrated Wong Po's organization.
Only, at this stage, he had yet to successfully enter the enemy camp.
According to his superior Chan Kwok Chung's arrangements, he would be sent to Stanley Prison for six months on charges of robbery and intentional assault.
He would use this opportunity to get close to Wong Po's most capable subordinate in prison—
A Ji, Zhong Yi Xin's assassin.
Then he would find a way to infiltrate Wong Po's criminal organization.
That was the arrangement, but in the movie, this period had been condensed into the words "three years later."
So Song Ren had no idea what exactly had happened.
Besides, three movies had now been merged, so he was not entirely certain how things would unfold.
Still, considering the ambiguity of this mission, Song Ren decided to go with the flow and take things one step at a time.
Stanley Prison
Song Ren wore a brownish-gray prison uniform, with a small plaque bearing his inmate number hanging from his chest.
Under the watch of two prison guards, he arrived at a large cell.
The large cell housed eight inmates, with bunk beds.
When Song Ren entered, every prisoner who had been chatting inside turned to look at him.
Their unrestrained gazes swept over him from head to toe as though they were inspecting an object.
A guard shoved Song Ren inside and warned, "We've got a new guy. Behave yourselves, every last one of you. Don't cause trouble, or I'll throw all of you into solitary.
You hear me!"
The inmates were long accustomed to the guards' attitude and replied with grins and laughter.
"YES SIR."
"Heard you, officer. We're all good people, hahaha."
"We'll take good care of the newcomer."
The guard's face darkened, but he said nothing more. He merely muttered, "You'd better. Fucking scum of society, all of you parasites deserve to die."
At the innermost bunk in the cell,
a buzz-cut young man with cold eyes stared deeply at the guard's back.
The middle-aged man beside him patted his shoulder. "Hey, A Ngau, what are you looking at?"
Yau Kong Ngau withdrew his gaze and gave a faint smile. "Nothing, Brother Ghost."
The middle-aged man's nickname was Fierce Ghost. He had a few brothers in Stanley Prison, though none had been assigned to the same cell.
Fierce Ghost had taken great care of Yau Kong Ngau, who was quite skilled but had constantly been targeted by many inmates. He had even begun to think of recruiting him.
Fierce Ghost suddenly leaned close to his ear and whispered, "Be careful when you shower tonight. One of my guys told me that a few punks from Cell 372 are planning to get you then."
Yau Kong Ngau's brows sank. It had been three years since he went from being the rising star of the police force to being imprisoned for accidentally killing someone.
In prison, inmates he had once arrested, as well as the bosses and underlings of those inmates, came looking for him almost every day.
He could fight, that was true, but two fists could not beat four hands. Besides, he had to guard against too many unexpected sneak attacks.
Over the past three years, Yau Kong Ngau had been battered from head to toe. The worst time, he had spent an entire month recuperating in the infirmary before he could get back on his feet.
His release date was not far off now. He did not want to cause trouble, yet trouble kept finding him.
Yau Kong Ngau's eyes were filled with icy coldness.
Bang!!!
A sudden, heavy impact snapped Yau Kong Ngau from his thoughts. He looked up toward the cell entrance.
The new inmate stood there calmly, staring at Fat Dog, who was kneeling at his feet, clutching his stomach and dry-heaving nonstop.
Fat Dog was a repeat offender. Stanley Prison was like his home, and since he was used to coming here, he had plenty of pull inside. Bullying new inmates without backing was practically routine for him.
But this time, he seemed to have run into a tough one.
Fat Dog clutched his stomach and coughed saliva all over the floor before raising his head and hissing, "What are you all sitting there for, posing? Fucking kill him for me!!!"
In the eight-man cell, the other four inmates charged forward at the same time, apart from Fierce Ghost and Yau Kong Ngau.
Song Ren casually shut the cell door and kicked the kneeling Fat Dog away.
He tilted his head aside to evade an incoming straight punch, then hooked his hand around, seized the man's head, and slammed him into the fist of another attacker rushing in.
The cramped cell was not suited to broad, sweeping movements, but it was equally ill-suited for a group brawl.
Only after two inmates went down did the others manage to rush up.
Song Ren twisted at the waist and hips, his body and raised leg forming a straight line, then drove a side kick into the attacker's abdomen.
He kicked the man straight onto a bunk, his head crashing hard against the wall. Stars filled his vision, leaving him completely dazed.
Song Ren surged forward, stepped over the fallen man, and launched a flying knee into the bridge of the last attacker's nose.
Bright red blood instantly sprayed from his nose. He covered his face and sucked in sharp breaths through the pain.
By then, one man behind Song Ren had regained his footing and lunged at him. Song Ren caught the movement from the corner of his eye, stepped back half a pace, and ducked beneath the punch.
He grabbed the arm stretched over his shoulder with both hands, rammed it with his shoulder, and knocked apart the man's stance.
With a fierce, clean shoulder throw, he smashed the other inmate who had risen back onto the floor.
At the same time, Fat Dog finally recovered enough to move, his eyes bloodshot.
He abruptly flipped open his bunk and pulled out a small plastic hammer he had secretly smuggled back from the workshop long ago, swinging it straight at Song Ren's head.
Song Ren's gaze flicked over. He seized the wrist of Fat Dog's swinging hand with one hand.
His other hand shot upward from below and clamped down hard on Fat Dog's jaw.
His five fingers twisted like iron pincers, digging into the jawbone along Fat Dog's cheek before wrenching sideways.
Crack.
Fat Dog's jaw dislocated. His mouth hung open as he babbled incoherently, saliva instead running down from the corner of his lips.
Song Ren pursed his lips in a smile and patted Fat Dog's frightened, pudgy face. "So? Do you still want me to stick my ass up and welcome you?"
Pain and fear mingled on Fat Dog's face as he staggered back two steps and dropped onto a bunk.
At the far end of the cell, Yau Kong Ngau and Fierce Ghost could not help stretching their necks, staring wide-eyed.
Fierce Ghost muttered blankly, "Th-this guy... is he here to shoot a movie?"
Yau Kong Ngau was equally surprised. This new guy's fighting skills were absurdly good!
