Linsey and Rota moved forward through the darkness.

The pitch-black Underground World held no light at all. Only damp vapor seeped in through their nostrils, telling them where they were.

Every few dozen or hundred steps they took,

the concentration of moisture from the lake water changed accordingly in their noses. It was as though the dark world were whispering in their ears how far they were from the bottom of the lake.

Fortunately, Linsey and Rota each had their own means of scouting.

The two moved through the darkness as easily as if they were crossing land beneath the sun.

"Complex natural tunnels."

"According to the records in the City of Law's library, this place should have been completely submerged by lake water. Yet in reality, these unflooded tunnels are still hidden here."

"Besides, the reason this lake came to be also differs from what the library recorded..."

Linsey led the way, analyzing the situation as he went.

After hearing this, Rota naturally offered Linsey her own thoughts:

"Commander, based on my experience with the City of Law—the rulers of this world may be stubborn and opinionated, but under normal circumstances, they would not do anything that violates human moral values. They also tend to act openly and aboveboard."

Linsey nodded slightly.

"I know that as well. So perhaps the situation here is because the City of Law was in poor condition at the time, and they erased the information to protect this place. Unfortunately, the world is ever-changing, and later generations could only find incorrect records when consulting the library."

As he answered, Linsey lowered his head and looked at the item in his pack.

Before they had been transported to the Under-lake World,

the Nature Spirit sleeping here had stuffed an item into Linsey's hand.
