There was not even a second of hesitation.
Linsey immediately pulled up the Map Skill to the location where the Scouting Probe had been destroyed.
The Strategic Map revealed the environment beneath the darkness.
On the damp soil lay a scattered heap of Metal Wreckage. Tiny sparks occasionally flickered across the probe's casing, eroded by the flowing water.
The probe had been destroyed.
Linsey turned his gaze to the surroundings, but apart from the blasted wreckage, the map displayed nothing but monotonous underground tunnels.
The empty image seemed to tell him that the enemy had already gone far away.
"..."
Linsey frowned.
Before he could speak, Rota beside him took the initiative to explain:
"Commander, after destroying my Scouting Probe, the enemy immediately withdrew beyond the scouting range."
Linsey's information came from the map, making it one step slower than Rota's in real time.
Naturally, he pressed further:
"Did you see the exact direction they went?"
Rota nodded.
"Back along the tunnel—but since the area ahead has not yet been scouted, if they encountered a fork, we cannot determine their subsequent route."
"..."
"Let's go after them."
Linsey fell silent for a moment, then immediately set off.
The Scouting Probe, combined with his Map Skill, had already given him a clear grasp of the tunnel layout within a kilometer. With one glance, he chose the route closest to the encounter site.
Seeing Linsey move, Rota followed close behind.
Though she did not question Linsey's decision, Rota did not forget to warn him of the potential danger:
"Commander, the Scouting Probe has no combat capabilities and is easily destroyed. Therefore, I cannot accurately assess the enemy's exact abilities. If the opponent's strength..."
Without slowing down or looking back, Linsey replied:
"Don't worry. This guy definitely isn't strong."
Linsey was quite confident.
