Oceanic Calamity
Abyssal Giant Whale Soroa.
An ancient giant whale living in the Sea of Wandering, as described in "The Dead Sea Rafting Notes".
It usually lies dormant, appearing as an island in the sea, and is harmless to humans and animals.
However, once awakened and regaining consciousness, it immediately enters a berserk state, becoming a terrifying monster that devours all living things.
At the end of the story of "The Dead Sea Rafting Notes".
The protagonist charged into the monster's gaping maw and destroyed the heart of the Abyss Whale inside its body, finally killing the monster.
Ocean Nightmare Krulu.
The monster in the background setting of "The Great Wave Eastward" has the power to control sea hurricanes, stir up towering waves, and influence the dead, thus bringing challenges to adventurers.
Even at the end of the story, this monster still exists in the background setting.
The specific weaknesses are not yet clear.
With the abilities of the two monsters laid bare, the three of them didn't need much thought; they immediately turned their attention to the latter.
Ala Song began:
"Controlling storms and awakening the dead—that's exactly what we've been through."
"So, the monster in that vortex must be Ocean Nightmare Krulu?"
Wala Wala's expression was somewhat regretful:
"Yeah, the ocean's nightmare. But I still prefer the Abyss Whale; at least I know how to deal with that guy."
"And Krullu —in the story, he's purely a background element designed to create difficulties. We have absolutely no idea how to deal with him; it's all shrouded in mystery!"
Linsey glanced at the [Hunting Notes], her tone quite confident:
"Don't worry, I have some experience dealing with these kinds of monsters."
"As long as I can see the opponent's true form, I can find a way to discover its weaknesses."
"..."
Wala Wala rolled her eyes:
"You really have another idea."
While Linsey and his two companions were discussing operational intelligence.
On the sea, the dark aura brought by the dead gradually disappeared.
As the last trace of Yin Sea dissolved in the sunlight, the information that had just appeared on Linsey's Attribute Panel a few hours earlier resurfaced.
Horror Game Rating: 1→2
Fear Chase: Increases movement speed when the player is chasing an enemy.
Note: Run, run fast! The exit is just ahead!
"..."
Linsey touched her chin.
After confronting the undead, it's perfectly reasonable to awaken skills from Horror Game.
Moreover, the effect of [Fear Chase] is simple and direct.
The wording used is also quite noteworthy—[When the player and the enemy are chasing each other.]
This scenario description doesn't specify whether one is the pursuer or the runaway.
Linsey seemed to be deep in thought:
"So in Horror Game, can I also play the role of the horror character?"
"..."
The sea was calm, and the strange iron-clad wooden boat continued its voyage into the distance.
About half an hour later.
The clear sky darkened again, but this time it was different from the storm that had struck them before.
Right ahead of the flight path.
The sunlight, like molten gold, was shining on the surface of the low-hanging dark clouds.
The boundless darkness oppressed the three of them, as if the gloomy sky and the dark sea had merged into one.
The small boat sailed forward, cutting through the calm sea.
And so it sailed straight into the chaos and darkness.
"Tsk—"
Linsey wrinkled her nose.
The air was filled with the salty dampness of the sea and the metallic smell that precedes thunder and lightning.
Peering into the darkness, a bolt of lightning leaped through the clouds, revealing the menacing patterns within them.
Boom—
Thunder followed with a deafening roar.
It was a deep, continuous rumble, like the sound of ancient war drums heralding the start of a battle.
Linsey glanced at the Sheet Music.
"He's a Pirate"—bringing a Wind of Freedom to the sea, blowing towards the place people yearn for.
The High Seas – Enhance your vehicle's ability to cope with various extreme environments when riding or commanding a ship.
The former is Captain Jack, who stirs up the Wind of Freedom; the latter is the Jackdaw soars to the heavens and plunges to the earth.
Linsey gazed at the approaching darkness.
Faced with the overwhelming sense of oppression, he chose the latter as the background music.
"Wala Wala, here you go."
Linsey tossed the violin to Wala Wala, then looked at the one-armed painter:
"Ala Song, I'll take charge of the battle from here on out. I'm afraid it's unlikely I'll be able to look after the ship where we're landing."
"I'm leaving this place in your care, is that alright?"
Ala Song nodded earnestly and promised:
"Don't worry, I don't plan to stay in this sea to feed the fish."
The ship bravely sailed into the darkness.
A few miles further on, a strong wind picked up on the sea, and the nearby waters became turbulent, mirroring the dark sky.
But this storm did not hit Linsey two companions.
The entire sea area seemed to be a dangerous forbidden zone.
The waves below splashed higher and higher, visibly accelerating their rotation and forming a huge, deep whirlpool in front of them.
The center of the vortex was dark and deep, like a gateway to another world, exuding a chilling aura.
"Linsey, this is it!"
Wala Wala immediately recognized the whirlpool within the towering waves.
Her petite frame strained against the boat as she called out to Linsey beside her:
"So? Can you spot the enemy's location?"
Linsey pulled up the map.
A Red Dot hundreds or thousands of times larger than a human being was right in the center of the vortex.
However, when they looked into the pitch-black world, they could not see the other person at all.
"Krullu is right in the center of the vortex!"
"I can't see it?"
"It shouldn't be visible to the naked eye!"
Linsey spoke loudly to Wala Wala.
The surrounding wind and waves grew increasingly fierce, and the swirling water surged at an incredible speed, whipping up huge, dark, turbid columns of water, while also bringing out countless bubbles and splashing spray.
The deafening roar of the waves sounded like the panting of a deep-sea monster.
It was impossible to lock onto the enemy with the naked eye.
Without hesitation, Linsey drew back the Iron Horn Great Bow, nocked a Frost Poison Arrow, and fired it at the enemy's marked location on the map.
"Even if it's invisible to the naked eye, its form must still be there!"
Boom—
The sounds of thunder and bowstrings mingled together.
On the pitch-black sea.
The icy blue arrow pierced through the storm, cut through the turbulent waves, and streaked across the dark sky with a trail of frost.
Crack!
Suddenly, a blue light appeared on the seemingly empty sea surface.
That's the reaction of the Frost Poison Arrow freezing the enemy!
"Yes, it's right there!"
Linsey glanced at the Hunting Notes.
Once inside Krullu's lair and launching an attack, the corresponding text indeed began to appear in the Hunting Notes.
