More than ten thousand Sakura Country soldiers had died horribly in Wakayama Prefecture and been buried there. The entire political world and populace of Sakura Country had been shaken to the core.

The opposition parties began wildly attacking Saionji Ito and the other officials, accusing them of incompetence and blaming them for causing such a tragedy.

The public was also deeply dissatisfied. The families of the dead and wounded Sakura Country soldiers demanded that the government apologize and pay compensation. A tremendous wave of public opinion swept across the country, demanding that the authorities immediately deal with the monsters entrenched in Wakayama Prefecture, lest they return to the sea and threaten other coastal regions.

Sakura Country's higher-ups were left frantic and overwhelmed. There was no way to cover up casualties on such a massive scale.

The pressure then spread to the military, ultimately landing on Sakura Country's Minister of Defense, Sugiyama Hideaki.

For that reason, Sugiyama Hideaki even set aside his status and personally came to Wakayama Prefecture.

More than thirty thousand Sakura Country soldiers had gathered in Wakayama Prefecture, but they no longer dared to enter. They had been frightened out of their wits by the powerful sea monsters in the city center.
